Add preferred Mesh network interface option (wireless or wired) for Omada controlled EAPs
An EAP can connect to a Mesh network both wirelessly and via cable, but currently, there is no way to specify which connection type should be prioritized. This limitation creates challenges in scenarios where some EAPs are connected via cable while others rely on wireless connections for the Mesh.
For example, consider a setup below where your house uses wired connections, but your garage or another building relies on wireless Mesh connections. If you want to add an EAP to cover the other side of the building, the system might not configure the connections as expected.
Controller <---wired---> house EAP <- -wireless- -> 1st garage EAP <---wired---> 2nd garage EAP
Currently, it’s impossible to control which EAP connects wirelessly for the Mesh and which uses the wired connection. For instance, even if the EAP facing the house (1st garage EAP) with excellent wireless reception is expected to connect wirelessly and share the network through cables to other EAP (2nd garage EAP), the current setup is random. Often, a more distant EAP with poor signal reception (i.e., the 2nd garage EAP) might end up connecting wirelessly instead.
By introducing a feature to select the preferred connection type (wired or wireless) for Mesh networking, such issues could be resolved. This would enable the user to select the EAP with the best signal for the wireless connection
