EAP225-Outdoor seems to be failing after 1 week
I purchased the EAP225 because it supposedly has a range of up to 200m.
I needed to get WiFi to a studio located 50m from the house.
The existing house WiFi (Tp-Link AX5400) does reach the studio, but with a weak unreliable signal.
The EAP-225 is mounted on the corner of a balcony, 1m above the floor, 2.1m from the exterior wall of the house.
Powered by the POE adapter that came with it.
Setup using Omada app on iPhone/iPad - Omada controller ADF989.
It is in direct line of sight to the studio, with a tree midway between.
EAP-225 boosted the WiFi signal in the studio to 40-60% according WiFi Explorer app.
This was sufficient to provide a reliable connection with down/upload speeds almost matching those at the house.
It has been working well for about 1 week.
Today, although the signal level was in its usual range, there was initially no internet connection.
I check all the cabling, rebooted the system and I did get internet in the studio, but the down/upload speeds were very low (sinking to under 1Mbs), web pages would timeout rather than load etc.
I then tested the EAP-225 using several devices at the house, and I observed down/upload speeds were close to those when connected to the AX5400, but a few minutes latter there can be a long delay before websites will connect and speedtest.net times out.
For a device with a range supposedly up to 200m (300m on 5G) this seems to be very poor and erratic performance.
Does that it worked well for about a week, and now seems to be useless indicate the device is faulty and I should return it?
