Model: EAP783
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.13

When checking iw phy for the device, I see there is only 1 stream supported for EHT (Wi-Fi 7) on both the 5 and 6 GHz radios, this limits theoretical throughput to 2882 Mbps on a 360 MHz channel, far below the advertised 11520 Mbps. Is the hardware really limited to only 1 stream or is this a driver / firmware issue?

Hi  @TLnet

It turns out that it is a display bug for iw phy.

It will be fixed in the next version and will not have an impact on usage. You may ignore it.

Hi @TLnet

Some client devices might have better compatibility with the access point's Wi - Fi 7 capabilities and could potentially enable more streams to be used. If you find that a particular client device allows for more streams, it could indicate a compatibility issue with other devices.

How did you get this result?

What kind of application are you using?

Did you test with another wifi7 AP or router? What are the results?

Or do you have other wifi7 clients that can have a test?

I connected to the EAP783 via SSH as I wanted to see the kernel version and other characteristics that weren't documented (glad to finally see a 5.x kernel!).

I ran "iw phy" with 3 SSIDs configured (one 2.4 GHz, two 5/6 GHz) and saw this result which suggests that the radio doesn't support more than 1 spatial stream in EHT mode. No clients were connected at the time and I don't have any other Wi-Fi 7 APs to test with at this time. Once I get some compatible client devices I'll see if I can get them connected with more than one stream, but given the AP hardware doesn't think it is capable I don't see how it would negotiate any higher.
