Hi

No matter what i try i can't get any pc's or phones to connect to the 5Ghz of this router. 2.4Ghz can connect but is quite slow.

iPhones say incorrect password. PC's just say can't connect to this network.

I know the password is correct. At this stage i'm putting it down to hardware fault.

Things i've tried:

  • disabled the 2.4Ghz just in case.
  • change the channel width from auto to all the other ones
  • change the channel from auto to all the other ones
  • change the power from 10 - 20
  • enabled and disabled
  • rebooted router

the system log says:

client failed to connect to [ mac ] with SSID [ my ssid ] on channel 48 because WPA Authentication times out / failed.

is there anything else I can try before i have to try to send it back.

TIA.

The error is typically considered a symptom of a weak signal. Either the client device antenna is too bad, or the transmit power cannot travel far to maintain a good connection.

And in addition, what kind of encryption do you use for the WIFI? You have to make sure your device supports the WPA3 if you force it on WPA3.

Usually, WPA2-AES is still recommended.
