How to connect 2 subnets using ER605. routing only no internet/WAN
Hi - I am trying to connect 2 subnets - 1 Home and the other Office. Each subnet has it's own Verizon CR1000A router for internet access
1st Configuration tried:
Home - Subnet 192.168.1.0/24
Office - Subnet 192.168.2.0/24
Here is what I have tried:
VLAN1
IP address 192.168.2.4
Mask 255.255.255.0
Ports 2,3,4 untagged
PVID 1
VLAN2
IP Address 192.168.1.4
Mask 255.255.255.0
Ports 5 untagged
PVID 2
With this config I can ping the router from either side but cannot send traffic through. I tried adding static routes and nothing happened. All systems on either side allow ping including the Verizon routersCat6e cables connected to port 4 for 192.168.2.0 network and port5 for 192.168.1.0 network
2nd Configuration tried:
LAN1
IP address 192.168.2.4
Mask 255.255.255.0
DHCP enabled
WAN1
Set for dynamic IP
Connected status and IP/DNS etc applied. Cat6e cable connected to the router WAN port and to the switch on the 192.168.1.0 network
With this config I can ping systems on the other 192.168.1.0 subnet from the Web UI using the router diagnostics, but I cannot ping or connect to any computer on 192.168.1.0 from any computer on 192.168.2.0
I've been messing with this for HOURS trying different configurations and nothing has worked. I unfortunately have little experience in this area so I'm hoping that someone with more experience can help me. I feel like I'm missing something very basic here - it shouldn't be this difficult
