Choosing a switch - error logging needed
Hi
As a volunteer I'm doing some IT support for a local branch of The Samaritans.
They see various issues from time to time which could be network but at the moment are running on 3 x dumb 8-port G-bit switches. I'd like to move to a switch from which i can see the health of the network, xs retries on ports etc. but with minimal requirement for setup and management because others who have even less skill than me may have to work with it in the future. So, fit and forget - except for the occasional looksee. I used to be familiar with most of this before I retired.
Although setup will probably be local, I'll need access controlled by password over the users network and access to error logs. Can anyone suggest a good fit ?
We'll be using VoIP & Web based applications.
I've found the 'TL-SG3428 24 Port Managed Gigabit Switch' for £154.98 from ebuyer but I don't actually need SFP slots. Since I'd be spending the charity's money, I want to check that it's a fair choice and I'd be delighted to receive any advice.
Many thanks
John
