Model: EAP225-Outdoor
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 5.1.6

Hi al,

Total novice here, so be gentle.

I have recently bought an EAP225 outdoor as I have a large garden, and need WiFi across it. I have an EAP610 (AX1800) in the house and the EAP225 on the roof. They are both connected to an EE router.

Initially it worked like a dream with seamless internet throughout the house and garden with my phone seemingly jumping between the EAP610 and EAP 225 without issue. A few days ago I turned the 5ghz signal off as I was trying to get my Sonos system to work. Since then, the EAP 225 hasn't seemed to work properly. I have turned th 5GHZ back on, but my phone no longer will connect to the EAP225. I can see it in the Omada app, and I can connect to it to reboot it and change its settings. But it no longer has any users connected to it, and if walk out of range from the EAP610 I just get no WiFi, whereas before I had strong WiFi all over the garden.

I have tried rebooting and unplugging it but I've had no luck.

Does anyone have any simple suggestions?

I'm not using the hardware controller as I was under the impression I only needed that for mesh. Also, I'm not using a switch as my router has enough ports at the moment.

Thanks!

Hi  @mowgli789

For your situation, you may refer to the following:

1. unplug the EAP225-outdoor from the router, and plug the same cable into a laptop. this is to check if the cable is still functioning;

2. If yes, you can factory reset the EAP and configure SSID again:

Resetting the password of a TP-Link EAP device typically involves performing a factory reset on the device. Here are the general steps to factory reset a TP-Link EAP device:

The reset button is located in a small hole on the back or bottom of the device, we need to use a pin or pen to press and hold the reset button for about 8–10 seconds. While holding the reset button, the device's lights may flash and the device may restart.

Once the device has been reset, it will revert to its factory default settings, you can now access the device using the default credentials admin/admin.

Please note that performing a factory reset will erase all the customized settings on your TP-Link EAP device, so you will need to reconfigure the device after resetting the password.

  @Vincent-TP

Thanks for the quick response.

So I got up on the roof and tried a factory reset. I was able to connect to it the AP directly, and had access to the internet and was able to get into the settings on tplinkeap.net.

However, the moment I went to the Omada Appa and added it back into my SSID the usable WiFi disappears. The AP works. I can see it is working happily through the Omada app, and if I press locate it flashes away happily. It just has no users, and if I walk to a part of the garden where I had reception to it before I now have nothing at all.

I'm guessing it's a setting in the app, but I am at a loss to what.

Thanks again,

  @mowgli789

the roof, you can see the SSID, connect and get Internet access. But if you go a little farther away, you can't see the SSID?
How high is the roof of your house? How far away is the EAP when you can't see the SSID? All clients can't see the SSID?

You may check if the SSID broadcast in on of off;

Also, please try to adjust the tx power higher.
