Hi, I am trying to use the VIGI mobile app for the first time with a new NVR & Camera setup.

 

After creating a new TP-Link ID, I enter my email and password to log in, then get to the "Choose Your Region" screen. The app then immediately freezes before it can show any regions (I only see a Search box at the top, and the letters A-Z going down the right of the screen). All I can do then is restart the app.

 

I am unable to get past this step to complete my account and log in. I have tried on two different Android phones, and it is the latest app version.

 

I ensured that the app has location permissions

Where did you download your VIGI app?

What's the version of Android you have on both phones?

Have you waited a while as it may pull the country and region list?

Hi Clive,

 

I downloaded though the Google Play store

I can only check one phone now, but it is Android version 12

I did leave it for a long time and nothing ever happens. If I try to tap anything on the screen, eventually Android will ask if I want to wait or quit, I tried waiting but it never worked.

I just thought of a workaround and I am now logged in. I also had the Tapo app which I had used in the past with a different account. I logged into Tapo with the new account and it again asked me to choose my region. This time it showed the regions right away and I was able to choose.

With this step now completed, I was able to log in to the VIGI app.

 

Case closed for me I guess, but would still be good to look into the problem.

  @Jpbescaser I realise this post is now a month old, but did you try my solution as posted above?

 

Download the TP-Link Tapo app. Run the app and create your TP-Link account there. You should be able to get past the region select screen.

 

Once you've finished setting up the account, try logging in to the Vigi app with the account you just made. You can then uninstall the Tapo app if needed.
