Hi everyone,

I was wondering if TP link switches that have 1Gbit/s, including the SFP ports, can use 10Gbit SFP+ modules. Of course my expectation is not that this will result in 10G connections, but only 1G for the moment.

The reason for this approach is simply that some of my 1G switches will most likely get replaced in the future by models supporting 10G (at least on the SFP ports). That's why I'd like to buy future-proof modules.

The question also stretches out to older models like TL-SG3424 2.0 or TL-SG3424 1.0.

Hi @ESCaNDIO

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

These models are EOL.

T2600G-52TS does not support 10Gbps SFP.

Other models you mentioned are not 10Gbps SFP either.

If you want to use the SFP+ modules, you should make sure the SFP+ modules can support 1Gbps. That's the key.

If you need SFP+ switch, you may take a look at the current models we have: https://www.tp-link.com/en/business-networking/all-omada-switch/

@ESCaNDIO I can now tell that those modules worked fine in my switches, even the extremely old models: https://www.amazon.de/Pack-10G-Multimode-Modul-MA-SFP-10GB-SR/dp/B08L8QZF4S

@Clive_A Thanks for your answer. I've ordered some modules and will report back how it's doing.

That's good to know. The protocols should be universal and that's why it works. Hope you can enjoy our products.
