Can port mirroring be used to create a functionally direct connection between devices separated by one or more switches? Use case is an HDBaseT extender over ethernet. Can I plug the transmitter into Port X of one switch, mirror that port to Port Y of another switch, and connect the receiver to Port Y to create a direct connection between the transmitter and receiver? Or is there a better way to do this (e.g. static routing between ports?)?

I'm not a HDBaseT user, but judging by the description of it, there is no IP support in it. So, you cannot use it on an IP network at all. You need something like HDMI over IP for that.

Or, looking at it from the other side, there is no HDBaseT support in those switches, but it looks like there are some other specialized switches for it.
