For a project we're connecting a building with DSL (50mbts) to a other building with no internet. We're trying to bridge those two buildings.

These are the conditions/ challenges:

-Total Distance (only) 150m

-30m are covered by trees(no way to avoid them)

-nearly no interference (2.4ghz/5ghz)

We know that our conditions are suboptimal cause of the trees. But we can't decide between two CPE210 or two CPE510. The CPE510 has a higher range and a higher dbi Gain. But 2.4ghz can penetrate through objects better.Since both can cover 5km they should be able to cover 150m with 30m beeing trees,right?

So now the big question is what CPE Model would be better.

Not necessarily. The signal attenuation of dense materials (solid or liquid) is vastly higher than that of air. Don't expect the wireless signals to go through 30 meters of trees.

If the two buildings are not tall enough for mounting the CPEs high enough to allow for a direct line of sight between them, then you may have to consider errecting sufficiently long poles for mounting the CPEs.

  @woozle

So i was mistaking

On the satellite map it says 30m an from on top it also looks like it, but when there we found a gap where they're only 4 branches max blocking a line of sight.

We are still not sure which cpe would be better.

And since the source only has 50mbts, speed limitations shouldn't be a problem.

Hi @Deiermeier

We can confirm that the performance of CPE510 is better than CPE210, not only the speed but also the stability. When deploy the devices in such environment, our 5GHz product will be better than the 2.4GHz product. For example, the recommended distance of CPE210 is 0~5km, when CPE510 is 0~15km+.

However, the performance or whether the connection can work or not will still depend on the actual environment. The only way to test whether the products will be suitable to you is to have 2 pairs of them and then make the test. If there are obstacles such as branches you mentioned, the point to point connection is not guaranteed due to the wireless tech limitation.

You can consider returning the products once you find that it might not work in your environment.
