Hi @gknac

First, this does not affect your use. I don't see any reason in this "no love" description. It is a decision to rename some old series to the Omada line. We don't manufacture the Jetstream and Omada will be the future business product line.

As this is a one-time announcement some models are not included. I have not received any further updates on whether there will be new models added. If there is and this needs to be updated, I will make changes to this announcement. For any specific changes, please refer to the firmware page where you can find the latest note about the firmware.

  @Clive_A

I have a TL-SG3428X v1.6, so I see from the table (and my app/dashboard) that it's now the SG3428X v1.30. My region is USA.

I'm confused about which firmware is the latest. After checking for latest updates, my firmware is 1.30.0 Build 20231019 Rel.60485. On the SG3428X v1.30 download page the latest is SG3428X(UN)_V1.30_1.30.2 Build 20240920. Can I install that one, even though the Omada app/dashboard say I have the latest firmware for the device?

I also have a EAP660 HD v1.6 that shows up as EAP660 HD v1.0. I think they are the same and the versions just denote where they were manufactured, right?

Pushed firmware is the correct one which you don't have to worry about.

If you have updated the firmware which changes the name and version, it'll display on your Omada controller with the new model and version format.

Regarding the hardware version, see this: Common Questions About the Hardware Version and Firmware Update

But the SG3428X v1.30 has a later firmware version that does not show up, and my currently installed one is 1 year older. Are you saying the latest SG3428X(UN)_V1.30_1.30.2 Build 20240920 is not compatible with my device, even though it shows up as SG3428X v1.30 in the app? Just seems very confusing if that is the case.

You now have an SG3428X 1.30, and you have this 1.30.2 compatible with it. There is no issue with it.

The website is 1 week late as we need to manually update its page and this is maintained by the regional TP-Link team.

Everything has been explained on the page. If you are SG3428X V1.30, you have this option(1.30.2 is not listed as I explained above):

@Clive_A your screenshots do not match the links I get via the Support/Download Center. Let me try to clearly re-explain the confusion with screenshots and links. In my screenshots the latest version of the firmware will always be shown at the top. Again, region is USA.

If you go to the page for TL-SG3428X V1.60: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/tl-sg3428x/#Firmware

If you go to the page for SG3428X V1.30: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/sg3428x/v1.30/#Firmware

You will my current version is the third on the list (which shows the device name change in the release notes) so there are two versions not auto-offered via the app firmware upgrade.

So my question is still, can I download the latest one in the above screenshot without causing issues? If I was using this as a first time user I would assume yes and download the bin file and try to flash it.

All the information, if it is not a region-based firmware, we will refer to the global website which means the URL is /en/.

The US website is maintained by the US team and not sure if they missed several versions.

Switch is not a wireless product so it does not follow the radio frequency regulations. So you can refer to the global website if you need to upgrade the firmware of your wired products. They are marked as (UN).

@Clive_A weird answer, because the US team website has higher versions than the global one, so it's weird to hear you say "the US team is behind on versions". Just added to the confusion, now. Looks like I just have to guess and hope the US team didn't randomly upload an incorrect bin file with a higher version number.

Also, your links are clear to not use incorrect files between versions such as 1.0/1.6 and 1.2, yet your one screenshot shows 1.2; my device is 1.30 as stated multiple times.

Hi @Sinayion

Let's start over.

First, I would only explain how things work. Not gonna directly answer your question unless it is asked by the way yes-or-no. If you need a direct answer, you may contact the technical support. My job here is to make people on the forum understand how the system works and share the network knowledge. If there is a background you need to know, I'll explain with the background. I prefer to give you the background and you try to understand and we discuss the questions after the thinking.

One by one.

Self-evident for the two pictures above.

Second part:

(I am asking you to read this page to understand that the naming has changed. And you should follow what's the new name.)

The model has changed its name if your model number has been changed, follow the new name which is SGXXXX. Regardless of whatsoever the version you see, if they are available on either the controller push(cloud), or the web page where you download and manually upgrade, it is both authorized and okay.

It does not matter as long as the version number and the date are closer to the date of today. I don't think this is confusing at all as I have assured you that this is not a problem.

The old model name page may not be updated gradually as this announcement has been around. If the model is not under the influence of this announcement, refer to the actual model number and its support page. We don't want to keep maintaining several pages of the same product due to its name at the same time. As yours has been changed to SGXXXX.

The key is to understand that the model has been changed to from TL-SG3428X V1.0/1.6, 1.20/1.26 to SG3428X V1.30/1.32. So you have checked that US website has it there, there is no need to worry about it.

Regarding the old format TL-SG3482X, I am not sure what the US team will decide on its update. They may not update it anymore.

Lastly, about the firmware order you usually see:

We usually push the firmware via the cloud. Cloud would usually be earlier than the web.

Usually, the order is Cloud ≥ Global web > Regional web.

Cloud and the global site is maintained under the dev and HQ team. The rest of the local websites are under the control of the local team. They receive an email of the notification and start to handle the update of the website.

If there is a delay in cloud push, it could be the firmware is delayed in the approval phase as it involves multi-department work. And the firmware is gonna be approved before the cloud team begins to upload it to the server. And then decide if there is a notification about the firmware upgrade of a model.

This(delay) happened in the past and some versions may skip the cloud push for some reasons that I don't have the privilege to learn about.

But generally, it would usually be the cloud and the global website publishes the firmware first. Anything posted publicly will be approved by the team so that there is a chance that you see the delay. But the firmware is okay to upgrade.

Either source you find new firmware, you are okay to upgrade. If you feel uncertain, wait for the cloud push.
