Hey TP-Link Team

As simple as what the subject is, please add support for FQDN when setting up peers in WireGuard, this way a peer can resolve a domain name when connecting to another device.

I have already had a discussion with "Clive_A" and was told by him that "FQDN is a feature added in the future" a few months ago just wanted to get it posted here for visibility.

Thanks

Hi all,

Thanks for your valuable feedback and post here. This request has been added to the roadmap. It is scheduled to V5.15.X controller.

Please note that this will involve an adapted firmware, not just a controller update. Firmware development is a complex process, and timelines may change. Therefore, we cannot provide a specific release date at this time. Please stay tuned to future firmware release notes for updates.

When introducing a feature like this, we typically apply it uniformly across all models to ensure consistency and a seamless user experience.

However, it's essential to acknowledge that hardware limitations may exist, which might prevent us from adding the feature to certain models. In such cases, we cannot provide individual notifications explaining the reason. Please note that we cannot guarantee the fulfillment of all requests, and we must set clear expectations upfront.
As a reminder, we are not able to give a specific date for a beta or official firmware release. Nor can we guarantee an ETA for the firmware. We recommend you subscribe for the Get the Latest Firmware Releases for Omada Routers Here - Subscribe for Updates.

My Peer's endpoint has a Dynamic Public IP and I need to ensure the peer to peer connection can be established consistently

Yes! Please add this feature. One less thing to change when upstream IPs get moved around.

  @Clive_A

Just adding another voice on this matter.

As small as this feature seems, it's an essential matter for our customers on dynamic internet.

Thanks

  @nlibby Yes please add it already! It is basically just changing the form validation. I'm pretty sure the code behind it can already handle it. Unless TP-Link reimplemented the open source project without fqdn support.

  @nlibby

I support this request,

i need to make site to site and have DDNS on both side.

Now i have no choice to use ipsec who accept FQDN.

Why wiregard setup have no FQDN, but only ip...
