Model: TL-SG3428
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 2.0.11 Build 20230602 Rel.76586

Hi All,

 I have a firmware push that seems to be failing with the message of invalid version. The update looks like it has valuable fixes but it will not apply what is currently being suggested by the controller version 2.30.0.

My current controller is on version 5.13.22

Message in  my log-

[Failed]Failed to upgrade MB_SG3428_SW to firmware version 2.0.11 Build 20230602 Rel.76586 online.

xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx upgrade failed: The upgrade file is invalid. Please select a correct file.

Any suggestions on how to fix? Somehow did I skip a firmware update that is now causing the issue?

Thanks

  Robert-

Hi @silentcleric

Have you tried to check your Java? https://community.tp-link.com/en/business/forum/topic/646246

If you are using Omada software controller and your Java is not 64-bit, you will fail the authentication of firmware.

  @silentcleric

I had a similar issue.

Give this a look: https://community.tp-link.com/en/business/forum/topic/615418

Basically this is what it says:

>Here is the process I encountered today while upgrading the TL-SG3428 from firmware 2.0.10 to 2.0.11.

>1) Tried to use Omada to do the upgrade from the Devices page - in the "automatic" fashion - this attempt gave a failure message saying that the file was corrupt.

>2) Tried to use Omada to do the upgrade from Device -> Config -> Manage Device -> Custom Upgrade - this attempt also gave a failure message.

>3) Rebooted the SG3428 and it shows successfully upgraded to firmware 2.0.11.

Hope that helps.

Best,

Carl

   No Joy... I tried to download the file and still will not upgrade and now I have one for the router and it is doing the same.

  The router is a ER707-M2 v1.0  with  Installed version 1.1.1 Build 20230927 Rel.35167 when I try to install the latest version 1.2.0 Build 20231214 Rel.77297 suggested by the controller or if I download and try to install it I get the same invalid message.

  @Clive_A

   Hi Clive,

     Looks like the Java issue you referenced. I was using an OC200 and I never gave thought to the version of Java. I wanted to keep more logging so I starting using Omada on a Pi. I migrated to my backup windows controller which I know has Java 64bit and was able to apply the firmware updates.

   Thanks for the help,

            Robert-
