I'm on Windows 10 and have been running Oracle JRE8 and needed to switch to OpenJDK11 (for a different application) which is supposedly supported by the Omada SDN Controller as per https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/3086/. So I uninstalled the older Java and installed the new one. The Omada installation aborts, however, insisting it wants Java8 from java.com

 

Am I supposed to do something special to make this work?

Hi, did it contain the JRE when you download the OpenJDK 11?

I'm going to guess yes since the file I downloaded and installed was called OpenJDK11U-jre_x64_windows_hotspot_11.0.20_8

 

Is there a way to tell other than getting a response to "java -version" in a command window?

How about uninstalling the controller totally and installing it for a second test? Maybe there is a little mistake choose when you install it in the first time.

Tried that. It won't even install unless it detects Oracle JRE8 is installed.
