Hello @Menyu,

I'm confused which kind of VPN do you wanna use? L2TP? PPTP? LAN-LAN IPsec?

Could you elaborate on your question? What do you mean of the admin privilege?

Hello, I'm using TL-ER7206 V1 via Omada, I configured a VPN - openvpn and i'm using Omada VPN Client app (i downloaded the software in tplink website - https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/tl-er7206/v1/) I already configured the VPN in Omada (openvpn configuration) and already installed the Omada VPN client application to my PC and its working but once i click the Omada VPN client application it will prompt requires an administrator account or input administrator password to run the Omada VPN application. Once i'm using a administrator account or administrator user theres no need for input password or anything, but if im using a Standard user it will prompt to input the administrator password

Hello @Menyu

If you enable the Option "Account Password", you will need to put in the username and password on the VPN Client PC, the below image is for your reference:

If you don't set it, you just need to export the ovpn.file and import it on the Client PC, then it will work.

Yeah, I already configured that, like I said, it's working when I connect to a VPN tunnel. I have a user account for that user. What I'm asking is about the Application itself, the Omada VPN app. It needs to be run as an administrator to run the app. Of course, there's no need to run as administrator if you're using an administrator account or administrator user. If I use a standard user account on my computer, it will prompt the user account control, where I need to input the administrator account. Example: I have two local user accounts on my PC. 1. Administrator 2. Standard user Just like in the other scenarios, you are preventing the other user from installing any other applications on your PC. That's why they are using the Standard account, which has no privilege to install any applications. In my question, The Omada VPN application is already installed on my PC; all I need to do is click the app to run and input the VPN user account, but once I click, it will prompt the user account control. Before you proceed, you need to input the Local Administrator user and password to run the app. I don't want to share my local administrator account with them; they will allow them to install any applications on the Computer.

Hello @Menyu

It actually has nothing necessarily to do with VPN settings, you may change the permission right for this AP, right-click on the application on your PC, and go to Security to change the account right.

Please note the OpenVPN you set is a Client-LAN access direction, the server can not access your client PC by initiative and only the Client PC can access the resource within the VPN Server.

  @Hank21Thank you very much. I appreciate your help, but I've already done this, and nothing has changed. By the way, I'll be using the built-in VPN in Windows (L2TP) as an alternative to OpenVPN.

Hi @Menyu

It's weird, could you uninstall the VPN application and install it again to check whether you have enabled all right for this application?

You can also try downloading the thirty-party application like OpenVPN Connect or OpenVPN GUI for tesing.

  @Hank21

Yeah, I already did that—uninstall and install the Omada VPN app. still require running as an administrator or entering the administrator password to run the app.

In the OpenVPN app, there's no problem running the app whether I'm using the standard user or the admin user. But my concern with the OpenVPN application is that when I connect to the tunnel and access my network, there is no browsing, no outlook, and no teams, but I can access my network or server in the office.

  @Menyu

here's the thing, it's not about the omada vpn client program.

have you tried to download OpenVPN and use it on this guest privilege client?

omada vpn client program is nothing but a omada-like software with original wireguard and OpenVPN .exe built in.

if you have trouble with this program, I bet you would have the same trouble on OpenVPN.exe as well. there is no way you can turn this around if that's the case.

fix the issue with your windows os, not the omada program.

ScReW yOu gUyS. I aM GOinG hoMe. —————————————————————— For heaven's sake, can you write and describe your issue based on plain fact, common logic and a methodologic approach? Appreciate it.
