IP Phone will not connect through the ER605
IP Phone will not connect through the ER605
I am new to the company, and nobody here knew the admin password for the ER605 router, and we needed to make some config changes. So I factory reset the router and got access to it. But now, none of our IP Phones will connect to our service provider. I have turned off SIP ALG as recommended by the service provider. I have created a firewall Access Control rule to allow the traffic on port 5060 and 5061 from any to any. But the phones will not connect anymore. I assume the previous guy here had some sort of config setting on the router to allow the phones to work, but I can't figure out what. Any help would be appreciated.

@bm3 I am using ER8411 with Omada Controller. State Time Outs are located under Network Security --> Firewall. I put 3700 sec for almost all. Typically disabling SIP ALG is the only thing you need to do. Try a sip alg detector to confirm. Ringlogix has a good tool.

Are you able to wireshark capture a phone trying to register with the SIP provider? Would be interesting to see the packet flows...but if that's too much I think there are some good suggestions above.

I don't see these options on my ER605v2. The menu is different to your screenshot and I don't have State Timeouts anywhere in the interface, I've check every tab.

@bm3 Check if your public IP was voip blacklisted. Alot of attempts could cause this. If so change your public ip. test tool (voipbl dot org)

@smyles I checked and it says my IP address is not blacklisted. So it has to be a config setting on the router. I mean the issue literally started happening after the router was factory reset, so some config was obviously lost there. Unfortunately there is no way for me to get hold of the previous guy to ask him. :(

@Virgo Thank you for your reply. Yes I did try to configure my phone's IP in the DMZ, but still no luck.

Update: I put in another router in front of the ER605 which has only my IP phones and the ER605 connected to it. The phones now work fine, and I didn't have to reconfigure the rest of our LAN. So it's clearly something on the ER605 that was blocking the IP phone communication. I never did find out what. Also, the new router has SIP ALG enabled, and the IP phones worked fine with it on, so I didn't bother disabling it as was recommended by Yealink support and my IP phone service provider. I didn't have to do anything special on the new router - just plugged the phones in and they immediately connected.
Clearly this isn't the ideal solution, but I was out of ideas to try on the ER605 and needed our phones to work. There is obviously a problem on the ER605 that needs addressing. I hope they get it resolved.
As a side note, I may have updated the firmware on the ER605 when I reset it initially (don't remember). Perhaps the IP phones would have worked with an older firmware. Who knows.
Thanks to @d0ugmac1, @smyles, and @Virgo for offering suggestions and trying to help!
