Hello @phongtom,
Thanks for reporting this issue to the TP-Link community!
I'm afraid that ER605 doesn't support putting the Domain in the Remote Server at present, only the IP address is supported.
This has been already submitted as a feature optimized to the TP-Link team. And it will also be optimized in subsequent official versions of the ER605.

Just export OVPN file and change WAN IP to domain in line: remote DOMAIN [port] [protocol].
Have a nice VPNing ;)

@Hank21 Any update on this? I recently purchased the ER605 for It's OpenVPN feature with the plan to use my ExpressVPN subscription. Without the ability to enter a domain address (instead of an IP address) I am unable to use the feature.

I am in the same boat. I can't set up my ER605 router as a client with ExpressVPN because they only provide domains for their servers and TP-Link will only take an IP address. I hope TP-Link adds support for domains like all the other router manufacturers out there, but there must be a workaround in the meantime...

It don't work. the "remote" string in ovpn file is ignored, only the IP in "remote server" field is used.

@phongtom I have this working with Nord - reached out to them and explained the problem - they provided IP address for me. Maybe Express will do the same?

@Todge you don't have to ask them, just ping to the domain name and you can get the ip, but is not my case.
On the server site I have dynamic IPv4 with DDNS. On the client's site I have to connect to the DDNS domain name, not to the IP because it can change.

I Just bought 2 ER605 to do a Ipsec VPN between 2 sites that have DDNS and it seems it is not working, booth the manual and the configuration screen show that we can use a Domain Name as Remote Gateway (IP Address/Domain Name) but wit Domain Name is not working.
This is very important because otherwise the VPN will stop working as soon as the IP of one of the sites will be changed by the internet service provider.
What can I do to solve this problem?
Regards
