TP-Link ER605 router with Brovi 4G USB Dongle(E3372-325)
TP-Link ER605 router with Brovi 4G USB Dongle(E3372-325)
Hello!
I have a problem with ER605 router (or the usb stick).
I recently bought a Brovi 4G USB Dongle(E3372-325) so I can use it with my router.
Unfortunately when I changed the WAN type to USB Modem (there was router restart) and I insert the usb modem to the router, the connection could not establish.
I can see in the routers's "USB Modem" menu, that the status is: "Identify successfully". but its disconnected, the link is down.
I tried with different router firmware versions, also tried to connect to the 3g/4g network with fixed paramteres without any success.
Of course i tried the Usb dongle with my notebook and it worked well, automatically connected to the lte network without any action.
The USB Dongle was chosen from the compatibility list of er605: https://www.tp-link.com/hu/er605/compatibility/
I see that there are more type of E3372 USB Dongles are availabe in the market, is there any difference between them or it should be compatible with the router as well?
Thank you for your answer in advance,
Marton

Hi,
I would like to inform every readers that I bought another USB dongle, and it works with the router perfectly (in aut mode as well).
The new USB Dongle type: Huawei E3372h-320 4G LTE USB Stick modem
The USB Dongle type which did not work with the router: Huawei Brovi E3372-325 4G
So the E3372-325 modem is not compatible with ER605 router.
Thank you all for your help,

Hi @szabadi
May I know the ISP name of your SIM card?
The router's built-in APN info may be incorrect. Please try to configure the APN manually.
The APN info should be given by your ISP. Also we can search online to get it.
And just in case, please plug this USB dongle to your computer directly, and test if it can provide Internet properly.

Dear @Hank21,
Thank you for your answer.
I also tried the connection with manual settings without any success. (APN, Dial number, Authentication type,)
APN should be: internet.telekom
I also tried the USB Dongle with my computer directly as I mentioned and it did work properly every time.
I tried to set fixed cellular parameters(APN,Authentication type,) as well when I plugged it in my computer, and it worked.
Thank you in advance,

Hi @szabadi
Please confirm you did choose Bandwidth-Based Balance when you enable the USB WAN port. If you choose Link Backup, then it won't be connected until the main WAN offline.

Hello @Hank21 ,
I already piped only the USB Modem in the WAN settings, but when it was asked, I chose the Link-Backup option, then I disabled the WAN interface.
Please check the settings in the pictures below.

Your dial-in number is wrong!
For Telekom (at least in Germany) it needs to be *99#
As a username take telekom
As a password tm
PAP and IPv4 is okay. MTU 1420 as well.
Hint:
With APN you get a private, non-routable IP address in the range 10.xx.xx.xx.
If you need a real public, routable IP address you need to use this APN:
With all other settings remaining the same.
Cheers.

Hi! @Hoamboy
Thank you for your answer.
I am trying a hungarian SIM card, so the parameters are not the same here, and as I know the username and password can be blank in this area, but I tried it with your settings, still not working. There isn't even a link up in the interface().
Another odd thing is that when I set the parameters in the "USB Modem" options and I hit "Save" and reload the site, some of the parameters are missing or the router sets back to the default value.
Thanks,

I am using the same Dongle successfully here in Germany with my settings provided.
The issue with the GUI doing weird stuff is described here

Ah and I think I can remember there was a need to HOT unplug/plug back in the USB Modem in case it wasn't doing what I wanted it to do.
You can watch the Initializing/Connected/Dial-in process on the USB Modem status page.
There were times when I've seen some 'time-out' error messages in the log.
Re-inserting the USB modem helped then.
