Hello,

I am currently only using an EAP110 with no controller or TP-Link router and trying to enable Facebook Wifi / Check-in for customers.

There is no option for Facebook under Portal > Authentication Type.

Is the Controller required and a TP-Link router?

Controller is required. Also some of the EAP may not have new firwmare to make it work with new controller..
