Rebooting the Modem Does not work!!!  I had Spectrum on the phone, they kept rebooting the modem while I tried everything  available to connect the TPlink WAN  nothing worked. We reset the Tp-Link and the modem  both, to no avail.  I updated the firmware. I was forced to buy an ordinary router to put between Spectrum and the TPlink WAN. Then I was able to do it via static IP.   As I said previously, substitute a T-mobile modem on the same WAN port, it connects immediately !!! I want to take this ordinary router back, as it is only converting dynamic to static address, but I can't figure out how to do it!  Nothing works! 

Is the TPlink supposed to be able to connect via dynamic addressing to a Spectrum modem?

If it is not then I am forced to keep the ordinary dynamic-static router.

Every time the power is off, I have to reprogram the spectrum connection...  UGH!!

I have no way to find out the spectrum IP address, without being connected.  They will be changing it regularly, so whatever is connected to it must be able to cope with this...

 

 

 Please explain the Mac Clone method in detail.  I am not a network person, only a retired engineer. Do I change the WAN ports Mac address to What?

To Match the spectrum's MAC ? I cant change Spectrum....
