Model: ER7206 (TL-ER7206)
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.3

Hello,

in my setup it is impossible for clients connected to a TL-SG2210P v5.0 switch behind the TL-ER7206 to download larger files. For example a 5 GB large file did not even start to download, stops immediately or stops after some seconds of downloading (even with a download manager).

I tested via WiFi, network cable and so on and checked every setting in the router and in every other Omada device several times. I am totally clueless.

Every limiting setting is disabled, I even disabled every firewall setting.

Normal browsing isn't affected.

When I connect my client directly to the 5G router there isn't any problem

Why? Thanks in advance!

Update: When I connect directly to the TL-ER7206 via a lan port it is the same!

The hotline is unavailable... :)

My devices (and firmware versions): TP-OC200 V1.0 (5.7.6) / TL-ER7206 V1.0 (1.2.3) / TL-SG2210P V5.0 (5.0.4) / TL-SG2428P V1.0 (1.1.6) / EAP245(EU) V3.0 (5.0.6) / EAP615-Wall(EU) V1.0 (1.1.0)

Kind regards d i r k

  @DirkTripleD

Did not see this issue on my ER605 router. However under my experience, it could be related to ISP or MTU, so you need to check:

1. If you connect PC to the Modem directly(not use ER7206 anymore), can you download big file?

2. On Intenret settings, change MTUto a smaller one like 1480, then test again

3. Disable Jumbo Frame on the switch/PC

@Somnus Hello Somnus, thank you for your reply!

1. When I connect clients directly to my modem everything is working fine (even when I use my Omada system without the TL-ER7206, everything works fine too)

2. Ok, i will try this

3. Jumbo frames are disabled everywhere in my setting

I will try to contact the support the next days again.

Right now I bought an ER605 and will have a look, if it behaves similar in my setup. If not, I will try to reset the TL-ER7206. The TP-Link ER7212PC seems to be interesting too...  Ok, I canceled my order and bought the TP-Link ER7212PC...  Because it has got everything integrated (controller, router, switch)... So I will setup a additional site and will reset the old system...

@DirkTripleD Be careful with getting an ER7212PC.  It looks like a great way to have everything in one box, but you still cannot have different VLAN PVID (non-main LAN) per port  And Omada updates do not come to it without a full firmware update for the router, which is a slow process (see issues with ER605 DHCP fix, and mDNS addition).  There are probably more issues hiding under the hood, since Omada is built on each device does one thing only, and the ER7212PC breaks that.

  @DirkTripleD

I have the exact setup in a remote office.  We have no issues transferring huge files internally or externally.

You monitored the CPU/Mem usage of the switch and router during the process?

Do you have any LAGGED ports?  NO STP errors firing off?

The ER7212PC arrived today and is working like a charm!

Surprisingly, it does not support '6 GHz' WiFi using a EAP615-Wall(EU) v1.0 and localization files seem not to be implemented right now.

But that's for another thread. smiley

The next days I will copy all settings and after that I will reset the older TL-ER7206.

@DirkTripleD The EAP615-Wall doesn't have a 6ghz radio, but also the 7212 is on an older version of Omada that does not have the switch button for 6ghz.

@JoeSea But the website states it has got WiFi 6 (IEEE 802.11ax/ac/n/g/b/a)! Connected to my TL-ER7206 I was able to use it (I tested it with more than 10 clients which are capable of WiFi 6) and I bought it for that feature!

@DirkTripleD WiFi 6 does not mean it will have 6ghz, WiFi 6 means it may have 6ghz.  WiFi 6E means it will have 6ghz.

From the first line of the product page "Superior WiFi 6 Speeds: Simultaneous 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz totals 1775 Mbps Wi-Fi speeds."

Omada will often have a UI switch, without actually having the ability to do what the switch says.

An additional  thing the 7212 will be lacking that I just remembered, since it was added in a recent update, is mDNS will not be operational on it.

@DirkTripleD   This kind of issues usually means there is a bad cable, speed or duplex mismatch or a bad/flaky Ethernet port somewhere on the data path. If the devices can display port error counters then check these, if not - go step by step - starting with a PC connectied directly to the ISP modem and see if it works fine - if yes, then move the PC one hop away (behind the gateway and then behing a LAN switch) ans see at which of these steps you start to see the issue. I had two bad cables yesterday and I wasted time checking the configs while I only needed to check and swap the cables ;-)

@Smok Hello Smok, thanks for your advice, I had the same issue some days ago, but it seems not to be the issue now. I changed every cable several times. There is also suspicious behavior of the WiFi access point EAP245(EU) V3.0. I will check this with the support of TP-Link. When I start 'AI WLAN / WiFi Optimization', it always fails and lasts forever.
