dns problems with tl-er6120
I am having intermittent dns problems.
wan1 is a comcast gigabit cable modem.
wan2 is a T-mobile 5g modem.
Wan1 is primary.
Wan2 is secondary.
I can ping an ip address but I can't ping a website.
ping 8.8.8.8 works.
ping google.com fails.
The router will not fail over from wan1 to wan2 when this happens.
It will fail over when I disconnect wan1.
How do I fix this?

May I konw hou you set up in Load Balancing-Online Detection? Are you set Ping 8.8.8.8? Please try to set Ping "your own public ip address" and see if it works.

@gatewait It is set to automatic.
I do have a static ip on my primary which is wan1.
Should I set it to the static or to internal ip address of the modem on wan1?
Under dns, do I set it to the dns server for modem on that wan?

In Load Balancing-Online Detection, please try to set Mode to Mannual, then in the Ping fill the public iP address which is provided by your ISP, u can have a try to fill the static ip or the internal ip of the modem.
I have no idea how you set under dns, and I don't think it has anything to do with DNS settings.Or can you show your dns setting?
I met a similar issue with you some time ago and solved it by modifying the ping in the online detection, hope this will also solve your problem.

I took the TL-ER6120 out and everything works fine.
There are 1 to 2 outages per week when I don't use the TL-ER6120.
These last a few seconds to a few minutes.
This is probably normal.
There are 5 to 10 outages per day when I do use the TL-ER6120.
Load balancing is set to off.
Link backup is set to wan1 to wan2. Failover when primary wan fails.
Online detection is manual to my static ip on wan1 with dns at 75.75.75.75 which is a comcast dns server.
Failover works when I unplug the cable from wan1.
Failover doesn't work when I get the dns problems because it won't let me ping an url.
It will successfully ping to the static ip of wan1.
It will only allow me to ping an ip address.
