When you read the ER7212PC specifications basically it's all you need.. and the price is very good

- Router with Gbic 

- 8 LAN ports

- PoE

The controller function for WLAN is extra but it's the cause of the slow boot if you don't want the slow boot buy a Router, Switch and Controller  

There is another BUG , the internal Firewall/ACL-Switch Profile does not work work on the LAN ports in the router

Example Two VLAN networks Home and Office, Home may not communicate with Office but Office may communicate with home.

But they still can communicate with each other maybe an extra switch is needed for Lan Wired VLAN's and Firewall/ACL rules.

Hope this will be fixed in new firmware releases

I got this device for my home network, because it seems great to manage and power a few access points and have a seperate VLAN for IoT stuff.

In fact, VLANs were one of the main features I wanted from this device that my ISP router lacks.

Assigning VLANs is an essential feature for even a home setup with a few IoT devices.

For now I managed to get around it by managing all the VLAN ACL stuff on the EAPs, because even "switch" ACLs don't seem to work on the 3-in-1.

I was going to buy this router as it nicely contains three functions into one device.

I found this threat and now I am not so sure if I should go ahead with the purchase or rather buy an ER605, an OC200 and a TL-SG2008P switch.

Is this only a firmware problem that eventually is going to be addressed or is this a fundamental issue that the ER7212PC will never be update with the functionality to configure the built-in switch like a separate managed switch with proper VLAN configurations?

Has there been any word from TP-Link on this issue? 

  @aschmid I got the following reply from support, so it looks like not a fundamental issue, but with that said, never buy a promise.

  @pepijndevos and anyone else finding this thread.  The ER605v2 firmware that was released last Friday (13 Jan), has given Omada the ability to change the router LAN port PVID.  So TPLink has a solution that appears to work, based on the feedback from another user I chatted with, but that feature needs to be added to an ER7212 firmware (along with other routers).

Quick question for anybody who is already using this: How does this show up in Omada? Does this show as a Gateway and a switch device or does it just show up as a Gateway and no switch?

I understand your frustration because I have no better.

So far in my extensive home network I've used: ONT (Supplier) > ER605 V2 > TL-SG2218 + TL-SG1005P + OC200 V2 + EAP110 + EAP 115 + EAP225

Everything was working fine until the last update broke everything. Then the ER7212PC caught my eye, which, as for me,

concentrated in one device Router / Omada and 8 POE ports.

That made me decide to buy it. And unfortunately they regret their decision because it's even worse. After configuring

the device, entering the PPPoE data from the net provider and assigning permanent IPs for devices operating in the

network, everything works ... until the first restart of the device.

ER7212PC starts albe without internet access even though WAN is Online. The way to do this is to reconfigure or restore

from a file obtained before the reboot. When we reboot again, everything falls apart.

ER7212PC has the latest FW V1_1.0.1 Build 20221106 installed, local network address 192.168.10.1/254 Of course,

silence from TP-Link, is there any other way to solve the problem.

The power plug is also annoying, any slight movement of the product and the ER7212PC loses power.

The startup time of the device is a joke, around 6 minutes.

The only thing left is to return the product or patiently wait for the FW to improve.

if I remember correctly it is like the router with many LAN Ports.
Switch specific settings were not available.

I returned the all-in-one device and bought a ER605, OC200 and TL-SG2008P. Way more space wasted, but it is what it is.

Needed, even for home users...
