Model: EAP245
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

Hi - I have 4 EAP 245 AP's connected to a TP Smart PoE Switch

I forgot all of my account details so hard reset all APs and reinstalled the Omada Controller.  I have managed to get 3 APs connected and working, but the 4 doesn't adopt.  It sticks on "configuring" for a while before showing as disconnected.  I have tried to "forget AP" once and re-adopt but the same outcome.

Any ideas?  Btw, I'm not a network specialist; I simply followed the steps on the AP leaflet.

All 4 APs were bought together and firmware seems the same.  Not sure what to do.  LED is on the AP so clearly something working.

Thanks

Arjay

First make sure that the EAP has a valid IP address and can communicate with the controller.
You can try the ping tool to check the communication between them.
It is advisable to reset the EAP and try again.

  @Virgo

Thanks @Virgo... I think the AP is on 192.168.0.12 which sounds like it may already be used. But how do I practically identify an unused IP, and then how do I change?

Two other questions...

1. I have loaded my Omada Controller onto my desktop which is not always powered on.  When it's off, what impacts are there on the network?  I have the Omada app on my phone, and the controller is stated as "Offline" - what does mean for the network?

2. I am trying to load the Omada Controller on my laptop too.  When I download the software and start it, it seems like it's stepping through the very first steps to configure the entire system afresh.  How can I load and use the Omada Controller on my laptop as a second way to configure the network, or is this not possible? I tried Omada Cloud, but that also says my controller is offline.

Thanks

Arjay

The software controller you have installed on your PC is running as a local controller.

If your PC is asleep or switched off, then of course the controller will be offline as a software program.

So generally speaking, if you want to use the Cloud site, want to access it remotely or use some advanced functions such as Mesh or Portal, the controller is required to be in a continuous state, i.e. the PC is in a continuous state.
(Of course, if you do not have the above requirements, you can also open the PC when you need to use the controller, the most basic network communication can be guaranteed; but it is normal to see it offline on the mobile app)

The second question is that you have downloaded a software controller on another PC which means that you have reinstalled an new application, this controller will not have the previous application data, it is a brand new one, if you already have one and it works fine, then this new one is not necessary at all.

Thats great. Thanks for confirming. So basically i only need to be logged into the Controller (so it's 'online') if and when i need to view and changes anything on the network. Apart from then, the network remains acyive and usable, even whej the controller is offline. Let me know if i have still misunderstood? I just need to track down the IP address on the 4th AP, and change it to see if it adopts. Wish me luck! Thanks Arjay
