Suggestion: With more and more networks moving to 2.5Gbps (I'm in the process of changing at home for example), it would be great to have at least 1 x WAN and 1 x LAN as 2.5Gbps minimum. If all ports did 2.5Gbps, that would be preferred to future proof the device. Even though I won't be able to use 2.5Gbps WAN at home, businesses with NBN Enterprise Ethernet will be able to.

Looking at the Intel site, the 2.5Gbps chips by themselves are cheaper which I assume could raise the profit margin (without increasing the price of the router) depending on the requirements to implement the change.

1Gbps - $5.94

2.5Gbps - $2.71

I've just purchased the ER605 v2 and have used them a number of times at work now. I would like to see 2.5Gbps and upgrade mine while re-using this one at my parents house.

FWIW: I've just found the ER707-M2 which is a great upgrade with 2.5Gbps and SFP (non-plus) however only 2 x 2.5Gbps ports? As technology moves forward, gigabit is going away.

@Reaper_1994 That still does not help for the upgrades.. I need one with at least SFP+ that can do 1g, 2.5g and 10g  to plug future XGSPON devices that I'll need when the ISp moves up again,. they are already rolling..
