Model: TL-SG105E
Hardware Version: V5
Firmware Version: TL-SG105E(UN) V5_1.0.0 Build 20220414

I swapped my ISP modemrouter for the Asus GT-AX6000 but this router cant find my TL-SG105E v5 and TL-SG108E v4 switch.

My ISP router did find the switch and gave it a ip address.

The TL-GS105E and TL-SG108E are connected to the GT-AX6000 lan port.

I did reset the TL-SG105E and TL-SG108E but this didnt fix the problem.

Everything that is connected to the lan ports from the TL-SG105E and TL-SG108E is working, the switch is working but i cant go into the user interface from the switch.

Any idea why de router doesnt set a ip address to the TL-SG105E and TL-SG108E after factory resetting both switches?

  @Erwin05

With my router from my ISP with default gateway 192.168.1.1 the switches got a IP address from the router.

With the new GT-AX6000 both switches don't get a IP anymore from the router with default gateway set to 192.168.1.1.

I have to start up easy smart configuration utility and disable DHCP setting and set IP address manualy.

The problem with this router is that it doesnt give both my switches TL-SG105E and TL-GS108E a IP address after setting internet VID to 300 in the router settings.

To test this factory reset both switches and they stay on their default IP address 192.168.0.1

The modemrouter from my ISP didnt have this problem.

I reported this problem to Asus.

Any help why my 2 switches dont get a IP address from this router after setting internet VID to 300 on all 4 LAN ports?

Probably because vlan300 is not configured on your switch

@Erwin05 Usually, Internet VLAN ID settings are for the WAN side of the router and often used with fiber connections.

@JoeSea Yes i have to set internet VID to 300 to get a internet connection, but after doing this my 2 switches dont get a IP address anymore from the router, all my other divices do get a IP address. I dont know why this router dont give both switches a IP address.

When i dont set internet VID to 300 the switches do get a IP address.

Is this a firmware problem with this router?

So I can speak from personal experience that none of my TP-Link switches ever showed up on my ASUS client list, back when I was using an ASUS router. If you're assigning them an IP via DHCP, that makes it more difficult to figure out which IP your switches are getting from the router. I'd suggest using a network SNMP discovery utility or using the TP-Link Easy Smart config utility to find those switches and what IP's they're getting. You could also set up manual DHCP IP assignment, enter in the MAC addresses of the switches within your ASUS router's config, reboot or power cycle the switches, and try that as well. If it works at least you'd know the IP's.

If it's a VLAN issue and the switches simply are not interfacing or communicating with the router, this issue likely stems from the VLANs not being set properly on your switches (someone else already pointed that one out).

@Shoresy When i set internet VID to 300 both switches dont get a IP address anymore from this router both switches stay on their default IP address 192.168.0.1 i can see this with the easy smart configuration utility.

The workaround i use is to log into the switch and set a fixed IP 192.168.1.X address and both switches show up in the router.

And how do i set a vlan on the switch that gives the switch a IP address from the router?

I have no knowledge of vlans.

The TL-SG108E has a fixed IP, and the TL-SG105E doesnt and the router doesnt give the switch a IP address. This is a test with only 1 switch.

I haven't configured VLANs on TPL's smart switches, but this link should cover the process...

https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/788/#:~:text=Choose%20the%20menu%20VLAN%20%3E%20802.1,can%20add%20or%20modify%20VLANs.

Not fully understanding why you need to set an Internet VID to 300 - how is your ASUS router configured to connect to your ISP/WAN? Can you provide screenshots?

@Shoresy When i use my own router instead of the modemrouter from my ISP, the info from my ISP is to set internet VID to 300 to get a internet connection.

When i use the router Zyxel T50 from my ISP both switches get a IP address.

When i use the Asus GT-AX6000 both switches get a IP address but when i set internet VID to 300 both switches dont get a IP address.

Both switches are fully working only missing a IP address.
