Why can't I change my password without reseting the eap that is on my roof, I've only got the app. The eap is plugged direct to my router and is setup as a standalone ap but it doesn't reach the advertised distance for stable connection to my security camera that is only 150m away, so I've purchased a second one to act as a mesh from the closer to the camera which is my 2nd question. How? I can't even try to connect the new one without a password for old one any help please

Hey

The EAP225 is not a home grade device, its part of the Omada Buisness grade range and therefore if you wish to use a "Mesh" connection between the APs (Connect them wirelessly) then you will need a controller

A controller basically manages the 2x APs for you and allows them to talk centrally.   In short the second AP would work as a wireless repeater.    The controller will also allow you to set the password and SSID as required and can be setup with a new username / password or your forum login details.

For controllers look at the OC200, its pretty cheap for home use.

  @Philbert I've been using the 1st eap connected directly to my router via a lan connection which is setup using the omada app and this has been working fine its just not transmitting far enough all I need is the 2nd one to connect to the 1st wirelessly from a 2nd position

Hey

Yeah what you are describing it called MESH under Omada, for that to work you will need a controller in place.   The EAP225 is just an AP and therefore cant manage another AP without a controller to do the heavy lifting.

If you want to go down that option look at purchasing a OC200 controller for around  £50   €60   and we can help you do this.

Basically setup the controller and adopt the first 225, enable advanced features > Mesh and then power on the second 225.  You should see it available for adoption.  Once adopted it will configure itself the same as the first 225 and they will work as "one larger network"

  @Philbert I've just purchased the oc200, but is there anyway of powering the POE EAP225 power source via 12v because the 2nd eap I'm installing will be in a barn with a solar setup, I've tried searching but can only find devices that convert POE to 12v and not the other way around

  @Dean1gsheheyw

Sadly the AP offically requires 24v passive or POE with af/at standards, that aside i know a customer that does have a ubiquiti AP running off solar with a battery..   he uses this

Tycon Power Systems TP-DCDC-1218   <<  Google that

Its TOTALLY not recommended but does take 12v in so may help you, but you are on your own with this one lol

Would an old network switch that is powered by a 12v dc adapter provide POE

  @Dean1gsheheyw

Most switches that have 4x POE are 60watt which is around 12v 5amp so its possible.   Not all switches have POE however so you would need to check first.

I've setup my oc200 and adopted my 1st eap225 but it's now got no password to use access the WiFi it's created, it's open to anyone. I've gone tobthe the settings section and turned on WPA/WPA2 personal but it asks for a name which I gave it but the network is still open?

  @Dean1gsheheyw

You have gone into settings, wireless networks and created a new wireless network?   is the one being broadcast in there?

The EAP will only braodcast what is listed on the controller.  stick in a screenshot if you can
