DHCP Reservation not working correctly
DHCP Reservation not working correctly
Hi,
We just bought a TL-R605 with OC-200 controller and a TL-SG2218 Switch. On the switch are also 2x EAP254 and 6x EAP650.
I have added 22 DHCP IP reservations. Sometimes the devices (Wired Windows PC or Wireless IP cameras) are not getting the reservered IP address.
For instance my own windows computer:
In services -> DHCP reservation
I rebooted the system this morning and all of a sudden I get a different IP address. This not reliable at all. Definitely not for IP-Cameras.
Is this a firmware issue or is there something I do wrong?
Hope to hear some usefull information.
BTW I added the map:

Sorry for any trouble caused. The issue has been reported to the R&D team for further troubleshooting and investigation, and it's now addressed. The following solution post has provided the Beta firmware for ER605 to fix the issue (beta firmware for ER7206 v1 and ER605 v2 will be provided gradually).
Solution ER605 ER7206 - “Use Fixed IP Address” (DHCP Reservation) Doesn't Take Effect

1.2.1 supposedly fixed such issues.
If you still have reservations issues with 1.2.1, that post indicates you should reply on that thread...

Oops. It must have been closed after the beta firmware was officially released (as 1.2.1)...

May I know the model number of your wired Windows PC and wireless IP cameras?
Is there any VLAN or VLAN interface configured on your network?
If your ER605 is running with the 1.2.1 firmware, please try Force Provision (under Devices page, click ER605 then go to Config -> Manage Device) and see if it helps.

Hi Fae,
Thanks for the help. I tried doing the Force provision. Now I get a different IP again (192.168.1.65)??
Somehow it is just not working very well.
Let me know if you or somebody else has some ideas.

@Pieter_H After updating from 1.2.0 to 1.2.1 I had the same issue. But this only happened with LAN devices, WIFI devices were not affected somehow. After reverting to 1.20 all running devices were getting their fixed ip again.
Edit: nevermind, after starting another virtual the issue now also seems to be present at 1.2.0 Maybe a caching issue, after rebooting the device all of a sudden the last device also got the fixed ip

Are you able to reproduce the issue steadily?
Is there any VLAN or VLAN interface configured on your network?
May I know the model number of your wired Windows PC and wireless IP cameras?
Have you tried rebooting your clients (wired Windows PC and wireless IP cameras) when they get a different IP address, and does it help? Could you please check your DHCP Reservation list and confirm that there is no duplicated reservation IP configured?

Same for my printer basically gives a warning when it gets a different Ip at startup.
I suspect this is since upgrading to 1.2.1 on the router , The printer again started to give the warning since a short while.
I check in 'past connections' and since may it listed its 'fixed ip'
my printer is connected via Wifi but on the Lan ( main network )
In the omada page it lists the ip the pinter reports , while if you go to the config of the printer it lists 'the fixed ip' it used to have.
Quite annoying when you have vlan's blocked and want your Work vlan still have access to the printer which doesn't reside on the 'Work' vlan.

I notice you have the OC200 connected directly to the ER605 router.
I had this same layout in my network and ran into a bunch of stability problems, including reserved devices getting different DHCP addresses.
When I moved the controllers connection onto the primary switch, all my issues disappeared.
