Hi

We have been using a SG1008MP for our office needs (all ethernet for office functions including laptops, printers and VOIP).. Speed over wireless is not quick enough for some of our database applications, hence ethernet option.

With increased staffing we have found we are running out of ports. It was suggested that we purchase another switch (SG1008P), and extend that way, connecting one port from SG1008MP to one port in SG1008P with CAT6 cable.

Intent is to use it for peripherals, though when connected and powered up, we cannot get any read through to printers.

Configs are

DHCP - Switch - patch panel - LAN ports in office. This works fine

DHCP - Switch - (new Switch) - patch panel - LAN ports in office. No joy with anything coming through new unit.

Are we missing something?. If we have done something wrong, a schema would be awesome!

Cheers

  @Virgo Thanks for the feedback. I suspect it may be looping as printers are used wirelessly by mobile/ laptop users as well as through ethernet by those using network PC's.

  @Kb_2472

Both switches are unmanaged and have no IP addresses and do not appear to have IP conflicts.
The problem is likely to be with the physical connections.

It is recommended to check the network cables, ports etc. to see if there are loops in the network.

Just striving to develop myself while helping others.
