@Clive_A That makes perfect sense, and fully agree - new features of course require HW support. As TP-Link confirmed that the flash size is the same on the v1 and v2 ER7206, I assume this DNS feature is coming soon for the v1, which will be great. Thanks!

@Clive_A Yet this very thread is marked as implemented for ER605. So you are now saying that this router will not get the feature?

There is not only you require this. Everyone using the product line - Omada needs it.

If the hardware is considered to be limited, there is no hope in getting it implemented. The lack of resources is the unshaken fact.

@Clive_A I don't think you get the point. This thread is named Add local DNS server to ER605 and is marked as implemented. If you are now saying that this will not be implemented for ER605 then TP Link has been gaslighting us all this time.

@Clive_A "There is not only you require this. Everyone using the product line - Omada needs it."

Exactly the reason so many have been waiting literally years for a design flaw to be corrected. Which the above statement at least (finally) implies the design flaw that this is.

At the end of the day, @tokenize is correct - this entire thread was started due to missing functionality in the ER605 by its very name. And if I'm not mistaken, this topic was opened when only ER605 v1 HW was available.

Just a rewind of what happened in the past. I have explained it somewhere before. Now again, ER605 V2 was first seen in Jan 2022. At this time point of this thread was started, it was nearly the same time that V2 was released. We did not reply or consider it until V2 was widely available and popular on the market. The context in this discussion should be based on V2. As you see the discussion was reaching 2023.

Don't try to mix these things up. Or we should move on to a new thread instead of continuing on this old post?

By the time we replied to the possibility of DNS, that was the time of V2 manufactured.

V1 was discontinued as soon as V2 was put in production. The time was around Jan 2022.

The thread was replied to and marked due to it was a popular one about the local DNS. Everything was merged into this thread.

And most people in this thread are using other models.

If you think this is confusing or not proper to continue to discuss with the mentioning of "ER605" potentially "V1 especially" in this context, I will lock this thread and start a new one with a different title and description.

Timeline:

ER605 V1 was announced as stopped manufacturing in July 2021. The stock would remain but we cannot control it. Officially stopped its firmware implementation in mid-2022. About a year after it stopped manufacturing, it was marked as EOL. And rest of the updates are about the security and bug fixes.

ER605 V2 was quickly spread to retailers at the beginning of 2022. You can get your hands on ER605 V2 at the beginning of 2022.

As you posted this, we have not replied to this or submitted this until Feb 2023. That was already the era of ER605 V2. And this feature should not only be available on ER605 V2. Instead, the full product line.

OK. I will stop replying to this thread and start a new thread on a different model that has implemented this. Like I previously commented I should not get any further involved in this thread. Very sorry that this is confusing you. But you don't look smart. If you think this thread is only about the ER605 non-specified hardware version. I will not mark or give any further comment or information on it until something is about ER605.

I should have never messed it up with the Omada line as you clearly think this is only about ER605. This is a serious mistake for me. Especially for a person like you who is way too not smart to understand this informativeness in this thread.

Your freedom of speech and I don't think this post should be locked. But you don't have to mention me for an update on ER605 V1 or a reason as I have explained to you many times why V1 would not implement this. If you try this again, I will certainly ban you from this for harassment.

The rest of the models will follow up in the firmware. If you cannot understand what I am writing to be informative here, just find somewhere else to fill a request on ER605 V1 or V2. The world is not spinning around you. You are literally funny here and being a harasser. Look at what you wrote earlier. I have tolerated you once for the language but not gonna mean there will be a second chance.

Good luck.

I do not have this information. As others in this thread complained and insulted my effort in informativeness on this feature and in this thread that I should not list any information regarding an unplanned or not specifically scheduled feature. Or non-related models, which in this context is supposed to be V1 where they think so.

Special shoutout for @tokenize who pointed this thread is supposed to be about ONLY ER605 V1.

And this thread should not be marked as "Implemented" which I did earlier as first firmware(ER7206) adding this feature has been released but now I have cancelled that due to his "contribution" in pointing out this. This thread is mainly about the ER605 V1 supposedly, in this thread, people who requested it which now this thread should be marked as "Rejected".

I have contemplated on this if I should remove or suspend this thread as it is under the context of V1. For the reason why ER605 V1 is not gonna be implmenting this, I have done that, no one reads or tries to understand it.

I am afraid that I cannot comment on this anymore.

This thread is solely about ER605 V1. V1 has been discontinued and is no longer supported for new features due to hardware limitations.

If you have a request for this feature on ER605 V2 or other models, please submit a new thread.
