Model: ER605 (TL-R605)
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.1.1

Running through the firmware of the R605, and noticed that it's running OpenWRT 14.07. This was released 7 years ago, and I wonder why is TP Link using severely outdated software, especially in a security product?

@AlbertKinterma According to my understanding, not only tplink, the development platforms of many manufacturers are also very old.

@Yannie I understand using older firmware or perhaps not updating the base firmware which the products builds upon. However, announcing a new product in 2020 and using firmware that's not only outdated by over 5 years, but which is also known to contain unpatched vulnerabilities since the the version of OpenWrt has long been EOL'd. And then marketing it as a security product is just downright bad.

They could get in trouble for that.
