OMADA OC300 compatibility

Hi,
I am planning to purchase OC300 along with its supported EAPs.
Just browsing through the user guides I am wondered that the Omada controller cant discover the devices if the switch or gateway devices are non TP-Link?
Please confirm as my topology would be to have Mikrotik router (WAN Device) and Cisco Switch (LAN) to connect with OC300.
Please advise, if this is not workable in this situation.

The port on the OC200 / 300 is only for management and NOT affecting the speed. The only traffic going over the port is the controls from the OC to the APs, therefore the speed of port doesnt matter for the actual performance. The controller port does not affect the network operation in any way.
Honestly.. dont waste your money on the OC300 as it will make no difference to you, stick with the OC200.

The controller only needs to see the LAN to discover the APs, therefore works on any switch / router topology. It doesnt require SDN compatibilty to work
Also the OC300 is overkill unless you have more than 100 APs. An OC200 is more than enough for most users.

I think what they are trying to say is that if you are not using another tplink product and only have an oc300, then there is no way for the oc300 to discover and manage third party devices, meaning that using the oc300 alone is pointless and you need at least an EAP or gateway or switch. I agree with @Philbert that oc200 would be the right choice : )

Yes I agree about OC200 but the decision factor is looking into future expansion and current factor for OC300 is due to gig port and OC 200 is with fastethernet port, specially if there is not a significant price difference.

Though I ordered OC200, and it was a better choice, but the only problem i may face it comes with USB power first and then it doesn't provide rack mounts, and this type create mess in server room enviornment while placing in the racks.
TP-Link should consider these factors as well, as this type of environments are in general professional and deploymed in corporate networks not at consumer level.
