Model: EAP235-Wall
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hi Guys,

We find a VLAN issue of the EAP235-Wall. If we enable the VLAN in the wireless SSID and the VLAN in three downlink LAN ports in the same time, the wireless clients connect with the VLAN SSID can't get an IP address from the corresponding VLAN subnet and access the Internet.

The next official firmware will fix this issue and we have made a beta firmware for the temporary solution: EAP235-WALL_v1_20210209(Beta)

Regarding the above issue, firmware 3.0.0 Build 20210322 has fixed this issue.

Update on 23 July 2021:
We found that wireless clients connected to SSID with VLAN enabled may fail to obtain IP addresses under some circumstances(if the packets have QoS Tag). The R&D team has located the issue and it will be fixed in the subsequent firmware upgrade soon.

This issue applies to:

EAP235-Wall_V1_3.0.0 Build 20210322,

EAP230-Wall_V1_3.0.0 Build 20210322

Update on 19 October 2021:

The official firmware has been released to fix the SSID VLAN related issue, please visit the TP-Link official website for update,
https://www.tp-link.com/support/download/eap235-wall/#Firmware

Here is the latest firmware:

EAP235-Wall(US)_V1_3.1.0_Build 20210721
EAP235-Wall(EU)_V1_3.1.0_Build 20210721

@jonas soooooo it's almost 3 months after this bug has been found and still no official FW has been released.

I just spent more than 2 hours trying to figure out why my vlans were working on eth ports and not on wifi.

I've used TP-Link products before and was quite pleased with them, I was also aware of TP-Links reputation of poor product support and almost no firmware upgrades.

I've decided to give EAP-235 Wall a try and oh boy!. This is ridiculous, I would say tha vlan support in a product like this is a crucial functionality.

It's taking you 3 months to develop this fix and publish it on the product page (which has no mention of this problem BTW)  WOW you are really commited to the poor suport opinion :)

I'm returning them tomorrow and I guess I'll give ubiquiti a try.

I tried it on EAP230-Wall, but still not work: switch: Cisco CBS350-16T-2G

Management: VLAN 10

LAN: VLAN 10

SSID A 2.4GHz: VLAN 2

SSID B 2.4GHz: VLAN 3

SSID C 5GHz: VLAN 4

SSID D 5GHz: VLAN 5

SSID E 5GHz: VLAN 2

SSID F 5GHz: VLAN 3

Only Management and LAN work (get IP from DHCP server and access the internet) I tried general and trunk settings on the port where the EAP connected. (Dot1q-8100, PID: 10; tagged: 2,3,4,5,10)

Used Workaround to work: Only one SSID without VLAN tagging (and MAC based Management access) and 'MAC to VLAN' setting on the switch.

It work with TP-Link SG3428. (But it has acl bug)

I created an account to say I'm also having issues with the EAP235-Wall. I have two SSIDs with a different VLAN and one computer connected to an ethernet port with a VLAN. The computer hardwired works fine, but any wireless clients get an IP address but cant connect to the internet. I have this AP set up the exact same way as my other two TP link APs and they work fine. THe new firmware in this post did not solve the issue for me.

Edit: To add some more information, if I look at a network monitor on my phone it switches between being connected and disconnected once every second or so. Dropped and retried packets on the EAP are through the roof. Hopefully this can be fixed because as it currently is, this device is just an overpriced switch.

It seems that the Beta firmware 3.1.0 doesn't work for your case.

For your case, I'd like to escalate to the TP-Link support team for further investigation.

They will reach you via your registered email address shortly, please pay attention to your email box later.

Once the issue is addressed or resolved, I'd encourage you to share it with the community.

Thank you so much for your cooperation and support!
