Model: EAP245
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

Hello all,

I have a software Omada controller in version 3.2.1

My network is composed of EAP225V1 outdoors, 2 EAP245V1 and 1 EAP245V3
I'd like to add the 245V3 in my mesh network, but this requires a firmware upgrade.
firmware upgrade on the EAP245V3 requires new SDN controller 4.2.x

if however the upgrade to SDN 4.2 means I'll loose my two 245V1 EAPs - as they do not appear on the compat list.

Neither options seems good.

Got a few questions:

-Is it 100% guaranteed the 245v1 cannot be managed at all by the SDN 4.2?

-Can I run two SDN controllers on the same LAN? (note: my APs are on a different subnet than my SDN controller)

-Can I run two different SDN versions on the same linux box (CentOS)?

Any additional advice on how to best proceed?

Dear @mduchaine,

Got a few questions:

-Is it 100% guaranteed the 245v1 cannot be managed at all by the SDN 4.2?

-Can I run two SDN controllers on the same LAN? (note: my APs are on a different subnet than my SDN controller)

-Can I run two different SDN versions on the same linux box (CentOS)?

-Yes, and EAP245 V1 is not compatible with SDN 4.2.

-We cannot run two controllers on the same computer.

But we can run the old Omada controller and Omada SDN controller on two devices at the same time in the same subnet.

Hope the information above is helpful for you.
