Model: Adapter
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

Hi,

I have just purchased a Jetstream 8 port Smart Switch (TP1500G-8T) and cannot access the web based interface via my network. I noted the switch default IP address is 192.168.0.1 so I needed to change this to match my network settings with my main router & gateway being 192.168.1.1.

I connected the switch directly to a spare laptop, set the laptop as a static IP of 192.168.0.100 and then loaded the web interface without any issue. However applying new settings to change the IP appears to do nothing. When connecting back to my network, the switch is not reachable. On connecting back to the spare laptop, the settings seem to have reverted to the default.

I tried changing the settings to DHCP which I assumed worked as then I couldn't load up the interface from the laptop but then neither could I from the main network. I also tried changing to a Static IP but the same happened.

What am I missing? For now, I simply want the switch to be allocated a reserved IP address (via DHCP) on my main network!

Note: I had choose a model from a list to be able to post but there are only a handful, none of which match what I have bought.

Thanks

Andrew

Dear @a.wright,

However applying new settings to change the IP appears to do nothing. When connecting back to my network, the switch is not reachable. On connecting back to the spare laptop, the settings seem to have reverted to the default.

Did you click Save to save the settings after you change the IP address on the web interface?

If you forget to click Save, the settings will be lost after the switch is rebooted. So ensure you save the settings.

Please refer to the following guide to change the IP address and set a unique IP address for the switch.

https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2122/

Note: I had choose a model from a list to be able to post but there are only a handful, none of which match what I have bought.

The model number should be T1500G-8T instead of TP1500G-8T.

@Fae Oh so I need to 'Apply' and then also save settings. I assumed that applying the changes did exactly that. So, if I change the IP settings (via the GUI) to DHCP, apply and then save settings, the switch should pick up the reserved IP address that I have allocated for it in my router once it's re-booted?

Thanks!

That's correct.
