@Egis

Thanks for sharing the results. I believe you are using 80MHz channels, which is okay for home use. For multiple APs in small business or even within home, 80MHz channels might not be a good idea and throughput might even be less than if multiple APs were all using 40MHz channels.  I was able to get more than 400Mbps on my desktop that has a 2x2 Wi-Fi 6 card from TP-link and used EAP660HD, with 40MHz channel. A laptop running wave 2 AC Intel card got over 300Mbps. I also used iPerf3 to test.

Yes its 80MHz channel, question if there will be any 160MHz with new firmware releases. I believe Ubiquity has it.

Hi @Egis,

Thank you for running this!  May I inquire as to what country you live in and which vendor you ordered the EAP660 HD from?  I've been keeping tabs on availability in the USA.

Is your phone 2x2 or 1x1?  Those speeds are not much better than I see running iPerf on my iPhone XSM and iPad Pro (Wifi5 2x2) on my EAP245V3 (5.8GHz 80MHz).

Thanks,

Jonathan

@JSchnee21

With eap265hd which  should be the same as eap245 I get only around 350 with same iperf3. Same phone as client.

Hi @Egis,

Thank you for the update!  350Mbit/sec is quite slow for iPerf on the EAP225/245/265.

I have Gigabit FTTH, and I see up to 550 Mbit/sec application level throughput (Fast.com, Ookla SpeedTest, SpeedSmart) on my EAP225/245's (though typically it's closer to 250-350 Mbit/sec).  iPerf can be up to 650-750 Mbit/sec.

Probably something to do with your iPerf Client/server hardware or config and/or early EAP firmware.

I run iperf server on ESXi 7.0, but on cat5e cable I get ~980 Mbit/sec. So I doubt that there is problems with iperf server. Could be that my both Sony phones doesnt perform well :)  Dont have other fast wifi clients for tests, maybe try with Samsung Tab later :)

Since 802.11ax permits operation in 20/40MHz in 2.4GHz, it is possible that 350Mbps throughput is seen when using 20 or 40MHz channel when connected to 2.4GHz. So phone might not be using 5GHz, where it will allow 80MHz to get 500Mbps + type of speeds.

My tests were done all with 20MHz only as that is the general use case in business deployments.
