Implemented mDNS Service
Hello I was wondering in Omada where I can find the mDNS service ?
I have a TL-R605 router but some IoT devices (especially the once that use Apple HomeKit) do not work or better are unreachable when I put them in a different subnet using VLANs, this is very annoying.
Looking on internet everyone many tutorial (all made on Ubiquiti or sometimes other routers) explain that mDNS repeater is needed, but can't find it in Omada anywhere.
Or eventually is there a workaround or non explicit way to have this done ?
Thanks

@Fae Will the ER605 be receiving mDNS support in a future firmware update, or is it just for the ER7206?

Yes, the ER605 v1 & v2 will support mDNS in a future firmware update. FYI, I'm informed that the ER605 firmware will be released with the Controller v5.9 instead due to the limited resources, so it will be late but come sooner or later.

Feature "promised" with Controller 5.6. which was announced half a year ago for Oct. an then released Nov. this year. Now the feature is there, but the router firmware cannot handle it. Coming with controller 5.9 which will be released... Your guess is beginning of next year? Try 2024, but you do the math.
My PFSense device will be here sooner. Seriously, TP-Link sc**w you. This is a premium example how a company can take a good idea, not bad hardware and f*ck things up.

Got it, thanks! Is there any rough release date for said update (e.g. by end of 2022, spring of next year)? Even if there's no estimate at this time, knowing that would just be helpful for planning.
For ER605 v2, it could be released by end of 2022.
For ER605 v1, it's likely to be released in spring of next year.
This post will be actively updated to notify the latest firmware release for Omada Routers, welcome to subscribe!

You know that ER605 v1 is mostly used here ?
First you lied people about October term giving useless feature, now your marketing make chose to support newer device instead of device witch originally reported problem ?
Do you know that one unhappy customer can spread word 3x faster and reach 3x more people than happy one ?
Currently not using this device ( ER605 v1) anymore, because know that you will never keep your promises. Also when asked about business alternatives to Ubiquiti, Mikrotik and others I'm strongly against TP-Link. All because your procedings here.

Any idea on mDNS availability with the new ER8411? Only seen talk about ER605 v1+v2 as well as ER7206.
The ER8411 just got a new firmware release, but no mDNS addition to be seen there.
Would seem kinda weird to release a new hardware without a feature that even got backported to ER605v2 and ER7206.
