EAP225 outdoor firmware update
EAP225 outdoor firmware update
Good day,
Today i got a notification for the update of my 2 EAP225 outdoor in a mesh setup. I didn't do the update as i don't know what it is for and i searched the tp link website for information about the firmware update and got nothing.
I hope anyone can give a link to it.
Why the big skip from 1.20.0 to Version 5.0.0?
Thanks in advance 🙂

Hi @mackworth,
Yes, I have an OC-200 running the latest version of the SDN/Omada controller software. I had automatic firmware updates enabled. The update came through automatically around 10:38am EST yesterday.
Unfortunately, my email notification in my SDN environment is still broken. So I wouldn't have noticed unless I logged in and checked.
TP-Link tends to push these out a few days/week earlier through Omada/SDN than what appears on the website. They seem to lag getting all of the websites up to date, and tie themselves in knots with all of the different localized versions of the Web sites.

Thank you.
Through some URL detective work I was able to download the zip for US. Here is the changelog, same as the 225 indoor that I posted earlier. https://static.tp-link.com/2020/202012/20201209/EAP225-Outdoor(US)_V1_5.0.0%20Build%2020200918.zip
Recommended Controller Software Version: Omada Controller v4.1.5 or above
New Feature/Enhancement:
1.Add Auto Channel Deployment function (need to work with Cloud-Based Controller).
2.Add AP spectrum scanning function.
3.SSH supports to write the Controller IP address to EAP. The command is: xsetctrladdr °∞controller IP:29810°±.
4.Add past connections function to show the historical connection clients.
5.Add the list of client association time activities and client association activities.
6.Optimize the high resources using of Omada Controller when managing a large number of EAPs in batches.
7.Optimize security vulnerabilities.
Bug Fixed:
1.Fixed the bug that the new adding SSID may not take effect after deleting the old SSID.
2.Fixed the bug that the portal function of the first 2.4G SSID may not take effect when changing the configuration of HTTPS Redirect function.
3.Fixed the bug that the °∞client detail log°± may not be sent normally to log server.
4.Fixed the bug that the 5G client may not be able to associate after working for a long time (>50d).
Notes
1. For EAP225-Outdoor v1 only.
2. This version of firmware is applied to Omada APP of version 2.1.X or above.

Thanks for the link. Looks like the update for ac1350(EAP225) & EAP225 wall are similar and hopefully the EAP225 outdoor will have all those features mentioned in the change log.
Yup, been using it with the cloud since deployment a few weeks ago.

Thanks for the heads up on your observations after the update to version 5.0.0. AP really have improved speed after updating firmware, as a client commented.
I hope my mesh setup will have the same double the speed of internet connection flow in the link as yours. 😊😅

I myself also like doing things manually, but I saw the button that says "rolling update" and curious of which AP will that auto function do first.
As you did manually by updating the root AP the last one. The rolling update did the root AP first 🙂. I don't know exactly if that is the proper sequence, as i have only 2 EAP's compared to your dozen EAP's.
Btw, thanks for sharing your experiences 😊

I feel like I have a completely different AP after updating. I was having a bunch of issues with some smart switches in my outdoor garage. They were showing as disconnected a lot in their app, only to show up a minute later. Not a single issue since updating last week.
