AP Up/down alerts via email
Folks, I want to have an email alert fired to me by SDN controller anytime an AP goes down and comes back online.
So I set up SMTP and did a test thru built in method and I get this test email from controller.
Then I go into logs / notifications / device and device disconnected / connected is checked in for alert and email. I also have device rebooted checked in for alert and email under the operation.
I perform a reboot of an AP from controller in the hope that I will get an email, and that never happens. Neither is this event logged.
Am I running into a bug here? Controller is 4.1.5
Thanks

@dpsguard, did you check »Alert Emails« on the »Settings → Site« page?

Yes I did check that and it has default 60 seconds for similar alerts as well.
Maybe my test is flawed and admin initiated reboots will not be alerted via email.

@dpsguard, did you try with OC200 or with SW controller?

Appreciate always your great support. I am using software controller and waiting for arrival of OC300, which is taking for ever ;).
I will try once again and let you know later this evening.

Further alert emails is also checked in the admin account section (it seems to be on by default and I was not aware of this setting actually).

Okay, I am embarrassed now. The issue turned out that under controller settings for SMTP, it was unchecked.
I can see as to why that would have happened. I had configured SMTP and sent myself a test email and then got the email, but forgot to go down to the page and hit save. So I directly went over to the notifications page and then the site settings and checked alert emails.
Thanks R1D2 for offering your good advice always.

@dpsguard, you're welcome.
I did remember that another user could get it to work, so I was a bit surprised that it didn't work on your controller.
But OC200 and SW controller sometimes behave differently and the software is still at early stage, so everything is possible.
