Hey there,

 

just wanna ask, if there is a setting, where I can prevent certain client from connecting to a specific access point.

 

I don't know why, but some clients always do connect to an accesspoint that is far away, even if there is an accesspoint that is in very near distance.

Result is a very weak connection speed.

 

I know this feature from many of my old access points, that I can prevent clients from connecting with it.

 

The only setting I found on omada controller or EAP245 itself is to prevent clients (MAC addresses) from connecting to SSIDs

you could set a RSSI Threshold in an EAP's configuration menu (under »Advanced« → »Load Balancing«) to avoid clients with a weak signal to connect to an EAP.

 

OTOH to restrict access for specific clients to a certain EAP you can add an unqiue SSID and use this for the clients in question.

thanks for the tip. The trick with the RSSI Threshold solved the problem for me.

But what I don't understand is, why the device didn't connect to the more powerfull EAP by itself.

 

Now the device (Ring video doorbell 3) has an RSSI of -57dBm whereas it had an RSSI of -70dBm when it was connected to the other (wrong one) EAP.

That's something only the manufacturer of the doorbell can answer.
