Forcing a client to disconnect/reconnect
I recently discovered that wireless IoT clients had reconnected to an AP that was further away because the nearby AP was being maintained. Power cycling those devices re-established the stronger wireless links
Is there a way to force a disconnect/reconnect from the controller? Sending deauthenticate messages, perhaps?
Thanks

Hi @unmesh
Why not adjust the transmit power of the AP? If the distance between adjacent APs is close, it may also cause wireless interference, try changing the Tx power to reducing the interference.

it seems that SDN Controller currently does not support disassociation of clients as old Controller versions did.
However, I would suggest an own SSID just for IoT devices to avoid roaming even if disassociation would be supported.

@unmesh Reconnect is in the action menu under the client section. but I would also recommend own ssid to avoid roaming, IoT device is not very good on roam and often chooses the access point farthest away.
Use SSID override in access point property

Hi unmesh,
depeds on what you want to achieve. If your IoT devices should use both EAPs and you want to force IoT devices to always connect to the same EAP, create two unique SSIDs for them. If the IoT devices allow it, you can even try to hide the SSID after the devices have been associated with the WLAN. If the IoT devices have crappy software, they probably can't handle hidden SSIDs.
You should not use SSID Override for those additional SSIDs except you want to override (replace) an already existing SSID with a new name.
