Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.3 Build 20200430

OC200 V 1.8 on sticker

 

I was not looking for any specifig upgrade but yesterday I hit the upgrade link on my controller and it loaded 1.2.3 Build 20200430 .  Noticing that I did not see any changes I was searching the forum I stumbled on a thread about the SDN upgrade and see on their upgrade page that there is a version 1.7.0 Build 20200703.  I am guessing the upgrades are sequential since my upgrade did not go directly to it...  Trying to upgrade to the newest version I hit the upgrade button and it tells me"

 

Incompatible firmware version has been detected. If continue with upgrade, the configurations and data will be lost. Please back up the configurations before upgrading.
Click "Upgrade Now" to upgrade with the configurations backed up or "Cancel" to cancel this upgrade.

 

Figuring I was doing something wrong I went through the upgrade guide.  It does not say to just hit the "upgrade" link but rather goes through a process.  In that process they tell you to backup the device.  However, when I hit the "Backup & Restore"  tab, It says "This function is available only for local logged-in users."    I cant find any information on how to log in locally. 

 

Also  I checked the compatibility versions on my AP's Ion their upgrade guide it says the following on my two models of AP's:

 

EAP225_V3 2.20.0 Build 20200422 Rel. 70513 and above

EAP225-Outdoor_V1 1.20.0 Build 20200422 Rel. 70543 and above

 

I have

 

EAP225_V3 2.7.0 Build 20200113 Rel. 38287
EAP225-Outdoor_V1 1.7.0 Build 20200113 Rel. 35383
 
Both say they are up to date...
 
So my two questions are how can I log in locally to back up the unit?
Am I good to load the upgrade to 1.7.0 Build 20200703

You're good to load the upgrade to 1.7.0 Build 20200703. Make sure you are not logging the OC200 from the Omada Cloud management page (https://omada.tplinkcloud.com) with your TP-Link ID, nor from Could Access via the Omada App.

 

Please login to the management page of OC200 with its IP address in the local network, and I suggest you read the Omada Controller Upgrade Guide carefully before you decide to upgrade it. In addition, R1D2 shows the procedure for one EAP in this post

So how exactly do you log in locally? 

 

1) Make sure the PC and OC200 are connected to the same network. So if your OC200 is connected to a router/switch, then connect the PC to the same router/switch.

2) Check the OC200’s IP address from the DHCP server (typically a router).

 

3) Launch a web browser on the PC and type OC200’s IP address in the address bar, then press Enter (Windows) or Return (Mac).

 

4) Log into the OC200 and follow the Omada Controller upgrade guide to back up the settings and upgrade the OC200.

So how exactly do you log in locally? 

I need the answer in layman's terms or directions please.  

I'm trying to back up so I can update the firmware.

@Fae. So I did what you said and now my username and password don't work. II followed instructions to set up mail server, so I could reset password and nothing.  Should I factory reset the controller and start over?

So my password had ! In it That was my problem. Upgrading now Thanks for your help Now to get the facebook portal working
