@chili-bean

did you not cd /private before you ran get ... ?

entering "passive" will switch you too passive mode.

I can confirm I was able to download the file using ftp from Debian running on windows.

@R1D2

I want to assure you i am not dictating how you serve up the files, i simply asked a question.

I at no point said i don't want to use FTP, nor did i say it's not a suitable method, it was a simple question about other protocols which for some reason you've taken as a person attack and this is not the intention whatsoever.

FYI I use Core FTP as my client - i use FTP very infrequently, but this is irrelevant - you prefer to use FTP as it serves your needs and this is personal choice and fine - i don't use FTP very often, in fact the only place i use FTP is to download the Omada controller software. I will consider using command-line to do this in future, it's a low priority for how often i use it though.

I am grateful for your work, you replies and you hosting the files - please note that, I truly am, as i am sure we all are.

Your reply about waiting 12 hours is all i needed to know, i will try again and thank you for this information.

Not that i have to explain myself, but so you and others who may also be interested know - and in line with a comment you made about scripts and scanning of sites - i block all outbound traffic on my firewall that is not required, so HTTP and HTTPS are fine, but because FTP is not a common protocol (for me), i block outbound connections - PASV uses random ports (unless you have a specific range configured), so my firewall rule may have rejected the connection on return causing me to get blocked - for now i have a rule that allows any port to and from your FTP.

Security is a key factor (even more so these days), hence your protocol choice, restrictions on connections and specific folder permissions - same for me on my network, including outbound - i do not have to share this information with you or anyone else, but given i have, you may now understand why i asked what i asked - and it's for the same reason you choose what you choose - security.

I do value your replies, you are a very helpful and knowledgeable person, but in the above post, you have completely misread my intentions.

@elmado

I'm using windows 10 ftp, which apparently behaves differently. I guess I need to try it from a linux system when I get time.  I changed to both private and pub directories, the private refused the connection, and the pub said there was no such file or directory.

@R1D2

Thanks for your pointers - the 12 hour wait did the trick.

I now have the file, installed and restored my configuration

Ok. It worked using debian. The lesson is, don't use the built in windows 10 ftp client.

Glad it worked finally.

Let me tell you an insider information: Microsoft crapware does everything to intentionally screw up open standards when interacting with open systems (i.e. UNIX, Linux) since the early 1980s. This affects all open Internet protocols, FTP, SMTP, HTTPS, TCP/IP, etc.

So it is not your fault if something doesn't work in Windows 10.

@R1D2 I'm having issues with installing 4.2.4 over an existing 4.1.5-2.

Basically, after I install 4.2.4, it automatically switches to the newer version, but I'm presented with the wizard.. no configurations have migrated to 4.2.4..

Server is running Ubuntu 20.10 on  x86_64 architecture.

luciano@home:~$ dpkg -l | fgrep omada
ii  omada-sdn-controller                                        4.1.5-2                                                     all          Omada SDN Controller for TP-           Link's EAP access points
ii  omada-sdn-controller-4.2.4                                  1                                                           all          Omada SDN Controller for TP-           Link's EAP access points

root@home:~# omadactl -l version
Currently installed versions:
        Omada Controller 4.1.5
        Omada Controller 4.2.4 (current)

Is there any extra steps if just upgrading from 4.1.5-2?

I did mine through the GUI, but either will work - whatever you are comfortable with.
