Model: EAP245
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 2.4.0 Build 20200117 Rel. 39932

Hi there!

I have three EAP245 v3 access points and would like to use non-interfering 5 GHz, 80 MHz channels.

In that case I would chouse 42, 56, 106 channels.

However I'm not able to manually select these channels in the UI

Could you please help me to understand what I have to do to be able to select the necessary channels?

@JSchnee21,

the reason why channels 36, 40, 44, 48 etc. are displayed in the selection box is that in 20/40/80 MHz mixed mode clients will negotiate the appropriate channel.

When selecting channel 36, 20 MHz clients will choose channel 36, 40 MHz clients will choose channel 38 and 80 MHz clients will choose channel 42.

When selecting channel 44, 20 MHz clients will choose channel 44 and 40 MHz clients will choose channel 46.

@szhem, select any channel between 36 and 48 to have 80 MHz clients use channel 42. Likewise, any channel between 52 and 64 causes 80 MHz connections to use channel 58 (it's not channel 56, mid-span frequency in the U-NII-2A band for 80 MHz is channel 58) and so on.

Hi @szhem,

Welcome!  There is some "sloppiness" reagaring how 80MHz channels are named.  Some folks name them by the center carrier channel, some folks name them by the lower edge channel.

In your case you would want to select:

36 on EAP1 (this includes channels 36,40,44,48 -- e.g. 4x 20MHz)

52 on EAP2

Add 16, etc.

You can always verify this after the fact by running inSSIDER or similar to conduct a wireless survey.
