Limit regarding number of connections?
Limit regarding number of connections?
Hello all,
I had a situation this evening with a training room... supplied with one EAP245 an 12 iPads... they all wanted to connect... which was not really possible. Is there a limit for the number of concurrent connections? About 8 of the iPads were able to connect to the 5Ghz channel... but the rest had problems all the time...
is there a limit or how can I avoid that in the future?
Thanks and best regards,
Frank

Hi @FrankNeps,
(-: Yes, kids and spouses are great for testing the robustness of electonic and technology solutions (-:
I usually get a bunch of devices, laptops, tablets, phones and then stream YouTube 4K, Amazon HD, or Disney+ on them -- they have much poorer compression algorithms than Netflix.
Then I take one or two devices and run concurrent speed tests on them (one per device) -- Fast.com, SpeedTest.net, ookla, etc.
The "Coverage Map" app is great on iOS devices (I use it on my phone, not sure if it has iPAD support). You can que up download and upload speed tests to run continuously.
Don't be alarmed by the % Utilization displayed in Omada or on the AP web ui. Two or three clients running speed tests will have it up in the 70-90% utilization range. This is normal.
Or, if you have access to the iPads you plan to use, all the better.
