Hi All,

In the user manual of EAP225 mentioned that user can log in to omada.tplinkcloud.com, add the cloud service, pay for the subscription and then add device using device's series number.... I cannot find it in my omada account and cant find any information related to hosted cloud based controller. Just the oc200 and the Software controller. Did I miss anything here? Thanks!

@Alannz, as far as I know TP-Link plans to release the SDN controller running in the cloud soon. Currently it's not (yet) available.

My company offers a controller running in the cloud¹ since Omada controller version 2.7.0, but only for our customers who bought one of our WLAN hotspots, not as a common service.

¹ Note that I don't refer of the TP-Link cloud solution where the cloud instance is just a proxy server tunneling data to an OC200 or a software controller running elsewhere. This cloud product is available already since a long time now. I refer to a »real« cloud-based software controller, i.e. which completely runs in the cloud.

Update: I found a website describing the new Omada SDN controller and the centralized cloud service:

https://www.tp-link.com/th/business-networking/ceiling-mount-ap/omada-cloud-based-controller/

However, there is still an empty support/download page for SDN controller.

@R1D2 Thanks!

I have checked other languages that I know and yes, it is blank :) but looks like they are ready for that.

At the moment, I have another quesion with the EAP225: Do we have to have any sort of controllers to make the Captive portal Voucher funcion work? Or the EAP225 itself can handle the voucher access management?

Thanks!!!

Alan

Yes, a controller is needed if you want to use a voucher portal.

@Alannz

Seems like it is working now from your local Omada Controller you need to enable Cloud Access then, you can log in from anywhere with your TP-Link ID and open up Omada Controller from the cloud... guess it relies on your local Omada Controller running 24/7 for it to work properly.

Nothing about subscription - so free.

This is the standard cloud access to an existing software or hardware (OC200/OC300) controller running on your ite locally.

TP-Link plans to offer an Omada Controller running natively in the cloud, that is a pure software controller running itself in the cloud, not only a cloud tunnel to a local controller. There will be advanced services such as Zero Touch Provisioning which require to pay a subscription fee.

@R1D2

Hiya,

Any news on the cloud based controller - seems a waste for my mini pc to sit there running Spotify and the Omada Controller (just for voucher management) when I could really do all that off our old cell phone?
