AEP225 won't adopt
AEP225 won't adopt
I am soooo frustrated. The AP will not adopt in the Omada Controller. I have a very simple setup at home....Router, DLink DES-1108 switch (so I can have some items hardwired), AEP225 connected to the switch with the POE Injector that came with the AP. Have tried and tried to get the AP to adopt and it gives error that the username or PW is incorrect. I have reset the AP several times so this Name and PW should be the admin/admin, correct? Am I missing something? I'm an IT guy for the local school district and know a little about networks and still can't get this to work.
I have internet if wired direct through the DLink switch, I can see the SSID and connect to it via wifi, but no internet. Help please....I've vbeen working on this for 2 days now.
Please don't assume I'll know what you're taling about....I need step by step help on this one. Or I'm sending this AP back to Amazon and getting a diffwerent one.

Hi @dsmith5428,
Sounds like we are making progress.
All routers have an admin page.
https:// arris dot secure dot force dot com/consumers/articles/General_FAQs/SB6190-Web-Manager-Access
But, it sounds like you're is fine.
So, when you manually set the IP on the AP, then everything working fine, except Omada right? You said you're wireless clients can access the internet when you manually set the AP to 192.168.100.254?
1) So, for now, don't change it back
2) Have you updated the eap firmware to the latest version. If not. Do that first. There were some legacy bugs associated with adoption.
3) Uninstall and delete your Omada intallation. Be sure to delete the prior install folder.
4) Re-install Omada and try to adopt the EAP as configured.
R1D2 will likely chime in later today. He may have other suggestions as well. I don't think there is anything wrong with the EAP, but rather something seems stuck with the Omada config and something still seems screwy with why the EAP won't properly lease a correct IP address from the Router.

Hi @dsmith5428,
In the DHCP settings page.
1) Set the fall back DHCP to 192.168.100.254
2) Set the 255.255.255.0
3) Set the fall back gateway to 192.168.100.1 (or whatever your router is)
4) On the static IP page, set the gateway to 192.168.100.1 (or whatever your router is)
5) On the static IP page, set the Preferred DNS to 192.168.100.1 (or whatever your router is)
6) On the static IP page, set the Alternate DNS to something like Google DNS or your ISP DNS like 8.8.8.8

@dsmith5428, where did you set the EAP to dynamic IP? In the EAP's web UI?
Configuring anything in the web UI selects standalone mode. You shouldn't do this if you want to use the EAP in managed mode.
- Hard-reset the EAP to factory defaults. Press the RESET button for 5-7 seconds until the LED starts blinking.
- The EAP now uses DHCP by default.
- If your DHCP server is working correctly, it will offer the EAP an IP from your 192.168.100.0 network.
- The EAP should appear as »Pending« in Omada Controller. Adopt it.
- Now it will be provisioned and configured using the IP assigned by DHCP.
If you see the default fallback IP of 192.168.0.254 in Omada Controller this means that your DHCP server didn't offer an IP for whatever reason. Try this:
- The EAP will go into »Disconnected« state after a few minutes.
- Now you can configure a static IP in Omada Controller. Click on the (still disconnected) EAP under »Access Points«. A popup window appears.
- Go to tab »Configuration«.
- Set a static IP from your network. Ensure that the IP isn't used by another device.
- Set the gateway and the DNS server to your router's IP.
- Reboot the EAP (don't reset it).
- Wait until it will be provisioned, after a few minutes it should reach the »Connected« state, now using the IP set in step 4.

I got a Panaramic modem with wifi from Cox, had it it up and running in 10 minues. Returning the other modem and this AP to the store. Directions for setting this AP up are confusing amd minimal, they should be updated. I won't recommend it to anyone that doesn't have good network knowledge. I'm an IT guy for hardware and know some about network and this was totally confusing to me.

EAPs are business-class products for professionals, not SOHO gear for consumers.
