@nbali

Well, it is not because of web cams. the speed went down in almost double after some time (and i am testing using file transfer between my PC and NAS). :(

Going to disconnect all other IoT devices like switches, asistants and see if it helps.

@AlexS20

Any luck sorting this out? I am experiencing an identical problem with my EAP225.

I have a netgear AP and the EAP225. Netgear (I used before getting the EAP225) was as fast as expected and still is. The EAP however, starts off strong and then drops after a few ours and can only do 50-100mbps. Hopefully you figured something out.

@PBGBBB2020 , Sorry, but i gaveup on it. I tried everything but cannot find the reason. Right now I am looking for cheap used Ruckus R500 or R510 AP to replace the EAP.

@AlexS20

ah thats a bummer. I am talking with tech support by email but they haven't offered any real help yet besides opening a ticket. Depending how the conversation goes, I may switch over to unifi ac pro lites.

thanks for getting back to me and good luck on the AP search.

@PBGBBB2020 Could you keep us updated with your support case. I'm still having issues with my tplink, have to keep restarting it every night

could this be hardware related problem if after 3-4 hours it start to become slower, maybe SoC is overheating and kicks some protection to lower CPU speed.  Can you check CPU levels on AP when it starts to slow down ?

@Egis

Ill try to check it on Friday when I am back at the house. Does the SDN log CPU activity? I never monitored it closely but I also never noticed anything abnormal with the cpu levels while conifguring things in the SDN. I am going to also try rolling back the firmware. There are two prior versions I will test and report back.

you can see live CPU levels from controller, for logging didnt checked.

I've monitored the CPU when this issue happens and it doesn't seem to be affected (stays under 50%) I'm guessing it's some kind of buffers that get full or something. Maybe state tracking or something. Not sure if it's at the protocol layer or ethernet layer

@sgnb

Hi, all.

I spoke with tech support and they are sending me a replacement EAP225. While I wait for that, I decided to roll back the firmware. To make a long story short, it is performing well...for now.

I was away from the houes for four days. Before I left, iperf3 tests right infront of the AP on the 5ghz band would give me results as low as 10 and as high as 150mbps. Link speed was the full 866mpbs. Typical average was about 100mbps.

I returned home and found no change; it was the same slow speeds. I rebooted the AP and suprisingly, no change, still slow. I rolled back to firmware 2.7, and speeds were fast again. I then realized its not compatible with my controller so I upgraded to 2.20 and speeds are still fast. I get about 60-75% of my link speed. Through a couple of walls and about 30 ft away, I got 300mbps on iperf3 (link speed was jumping in the 400-550 mbps range). Infront of the AP, I was getting 450-500mbps download with an 866 linkspeed.

All in all, I think these speeds are good and the best you can ask for on wifi (>50% of link speed). I will monitor through the day and let you know if they maintain or drop off again.

Im sum; there are two things that I had improved the perofrmance of my EAP225. Forcing the 5ghz band to 80mhz and downgrading the firmware to 2.20.
