Model: EAP110-Outdoor
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version:

I have an EAP 110-Outdoor. Plugged into an SF1000P POE switch. It won't power up. Do I have to use the supplied power adapter for the AP?

@Gerv

EAP110-Outdoor only supports passive PoE to supply power. That is to say, we can only use a passive PoE adapter or a PoE switch which supports passive PoE to supply power for the EAP110-Outdoor.

You can check if the SF1000P supports passive poe. If yes, then you can power for the EAP110-Outdoor. Or you can only use the original PoE adapter to supply power for the EAP device.

@forrest The SF1005P is a TPlink POE switch. The AP does not get power. Am I missing something?

The TL-SF1005P supports PoE according to IEEE-802.3af (48 volts), while the EAP110-Outdoor requires passive PoE (24 volts).

TP-Link currently does not have passive PoE switches in their product portfolio, so you need to use the PoE injector coming with EAP110-Outdoor or another PoE switch which supports passive PoE (24 volts).

@forrest Hi, I have the same problem. The PoE adpater for my EAP225 unfortunately got wet and doesn't work anymore. I mistakenly bought a cheap 48V adapter online and of course it didn't power up the eap but I'm wondering, did it do damage to the ap? Because I bought another injector with 24V and it still won't work. Or is it because I need to use an original injector?

Dear @matt_0,

The PoE adpater for my EAP225 unfortunately got wet and doesn't work anymore. I mistakenly bought a cheap 48V adapter online and of course it didn't power up the eap but I'm wondering, did it do damage to the ap?

The EAP225 supports 24V passive PoE, it could be damaged when it is connected to a 48V passive PoE since the voltage is overloaded.

Because I bought another injector with 24V and it still won't work. Or is it because I need to use an original injector?

Just need to make sure the injector is 24V passive PoE (+4,5pins; -7,8pins), and test with a working cable.

The ceiling mount EAP225 supports IEEE 802.3af/at PoE standard as well, if you have a PoE switch(802.3af/at PoE), give it a try.

@Fae What I actually have is the EAP225 outdoor and below is the pic of the injector that I ordered which unfortunately does not power it. Is there any way to fix this? And if I buy the original injector, is it guaranteed to power my ap?

The injector you ordered is 24V passive PoE, which should be able to power up the EAP225-Outdoor if the AP still works.

I don't think it is necessary to buy the original injector. I'm afraid that you may consider a new AP.

@jpdoffay

Unfortunately according to them you must use a TP link POE switch. When I posted this question they didn't make one. I was forced to use their POE adapter.
